Mark Salter was one of the most prolific non league goalscorers of the time, was, imho, worth the punt, got nothing but criticism on here.
Sean Marks was a "Must sign" a few years ago, we were, obviously not the only ones who disagreed.
I reckon its a 1 in 10 sucess rate, so its far from a proven method, although I like the idea of unearthing lower league talent

Will Bury be full of Clarkes as they add Two of our former players in Peter Clarke and Leon Clarke. Rivals snapping up players , no doubt we will wait for a few dregs to trial a week before kick off as per usual? Sorry to cynical, prove me wrong Ron please , so good news on 3 cracking forwards , a creative midfielder and couple of decent defenders due soon?

I'm sure I saw that Bury were Trying to sign Tom Pope from Port Vale.

Anton Flood?

He used to destroy us every time we played against him. Would be a good signing.

Maybe, maybe not. Vale fans reckon his legs are shot. Certainly his goal ratio last season was nowhere near as prolific as when Vale escaped Div 2. Shades of Freddie maybe?

He managed a ratio of 1 in 3, which is pretty respectful. If he managed close to what he got when Port Vale were promoted from league 2 (33 in 51 games), then we wouldn't have a chance of signing him.

In his past two seasons in League One, he's scored 12 in 43 (13/14) and a 8 league goals last season. Not too sure how many games he played but the goals ratio appears to be decreasing. Although what I think is irrelevant because I doubt very much whether we would get/consider him.

As above. Ansah would be great given the links with his father and the club.

As for Pope - he had one good season and has otherwise been average I would say. Reminds me a little of a chap called Tomlin in that respect!

Funny how they both ended up at Port Vale.

Can only see loan signing I'm afraid,if my math is correct the remaining players managed 25 league goals between them all.

You honestly think we won't sign a striker before the start of the season?

There is so little from the club and Mr Brown that it MUST mean he has his targets and is working hard on getting them in. Oddly this quiet is reassuring. For sure he will have had lots of recommendations from the likes of Big Sam (for league reserve kids) and King Kev for conference up and comings.

or the people who matter are away for holidays.

Wonder if he mentioned anything about that lad who has just signed for Brighton from Chelmsford?

Quality or quantity ?

Maybe one contracted forward if we are lucky, probably loan forwards Imo.

Phil's overall record of signing forwards here has been rough to say the least, hoping for better.

There's 2 on that list well-known locally, that I don't think we should sign : Jamie Slabber and Matthew Paterson!

I've been really impressed with Steve Cawley when I've seen him. Not quite an out and out centre forward but has great feet. L1 probably too big a step up but no harm in handing him a trial.

Despite your constant carping about Browns managerial skills last season , the man got us promoted.
This was the aim and this was achieved.
Just two weeks after one of the best days in our clubs history , you are already on at him again for the coming season before a ball has been kicked , using 'maybe' and 'probably'.
Every one is entitled to their opinion , but what the hell are you basing things on in early June ?
Can't you just be positive and support the club for once without being negative for no reason at all except the fact that you want Brown to fail.
