A Bit of Fun Transfer Rumours Thread (Potential New Signings)

Back from holiday, and back with an update.

I was told yesterday WA was back in training and was told he’d be signed before the weekend, and the official signing pictures were taken today. Had I done my update this morning, I’d have had the scoop, but never mind. He was always going to sign if he proved his fitness this summer, now he is fit, it’s no surprises he has signed.

I’ve read a few posts since I’ve been back, but not all. Sim & ANG haven’t been deregistered, we aren’t under any form of squad size restriction limit, so wouldn’t make sense to have done that. They haven’t been allocated squad numbers as they aren’t in PB’s plans. Simple as that, no conspiracy theories will actually point to the truth in this instance. PB just isn’t a fan of the players, happens at every club.

Hopefully the WA signing finally puts to bed any posters still believing we are under a transfer embargo.

It was never a case of needing to shift someone to bring someone else in, as proved by WA signing. There is still room in the budget at present, although I don’t know figures, I never ask about them. Could be 50p left in the budget, could be £1000s. WA hasn’t made a huge dent in the budget I’ve been told.

“Eyebrows” is still in talks. That is still a possibility despite the result at the weekend. PB still wants another forward, and a left sided centre half. Possibly a wide player too, but think WA has ticked that box. All of PB’s christmases will have come at once if we get those 3 through the door, but players would have to leave also.

The QPR lad is on a month to month loan to cover both clubs. QPR because if he isn’t getting any game time, and someone else promises him game time, and us if we decide to bring other players into the Club. Not another embargo conspiracy I’m afraid. Dennis was always our number one priority of the two loan players. He will start games. QPR lad won’t at the moment. Murphy & Dalby are the first choice front pairing.

First team coach is still bubbling away. Talks having to go on between us, him and the Welsh FA in regards to his position there and how his involvement with us will effect that.

Finally, all these figures being banded about with regards to players, take them all with a pinch of salt. Very, very few people know what players are on. Football Manager and the like have best guesses from their “scouts” so they aren’t facts. I never ask about wages, and wouldn’t want to know. Very few people know my wages, so it’s the same with footballers too. Don’t take figures quoted as gospel. Some maybe right, some could be so far wide of the mark, but I doubt any poster, unless the player themselves, knows the real figures.

Thanks for the clarification - in particular the embargo/squad restriction nonsense was getting particularly tiresome

Great post - thanks ?

Many thanks for your insightful update, BY2. Has Eren Kinali been injured? He is a very promising player with great determination and at the age where he should be given a chance. RD and CF apparently rate him highly but he has not featured under PB. This seems a bit puzzling.

Dylan Duncan still hasn't got a club yet as far as I can tell, was on trial at Orient recently.
I'd love to know our policy on looking at youngsters released by Prem and Champ clubs. Surely you'd imagine they'd be fairly cheap and can find some real good talent.

One example would be Anthony Scully (yes familiar name) released by West Ham and now playing really well for Lincoln and has been rumoured for a move to the Championship. Good bit of money coming in for the Imps.

Haven't we signed one already this window?

Yep Dalby but theres a lot of unknown quantity that would be worth a look at
Ricky D will know every player from the age of 14. I'm sure if there are possibilities of the right man at the right price and able to play at NL, with the ability and potential to push on. Then we will be in the market.

Sam Dalby fits that profile but lets remind ourselves its very early doors so give him your full support. Taylor came from Burnley? but was released. Just like non league diamonds, its a game of percentages and can be costly. Time is not on any mangers side and they tend to not take to many risks. 11 months ago fans were scathing of Hobson, then voted him POTY......Another of footballs fine margins, if we had had other choices back then, he may not be here this season.

It’s something we’ve done fairly regularly in recent times. In addition to Richard Taylor from Burnley as @rigsby has mentioned, in the past six years there’s been Harry Kyprianou (Watford) and Isaac Hutchinson (Brighton & Hove Albion), plus Rob Howard (Arsenal via Col U). We also looked at Imaad Sankoh (Watford) and Chay Cooper (Spurs) last season, although like Howard they were known to us already having been at the Academy at a younger age.

We’ve also done well at picking up players at a younger age, such as Elvis Bwomono (QPR) and Dan Bentley (Arsenal) and going further back Franck Moussa (West Ham) and Stuart O’Keefe (Ipswich Town). Academy/U23s recruitment isn’t something I’d be too concerned about, currently.

Just seen this from Akinola. Not sure if it relates to us but the "I will not be moved" stood out to me. I think he could do a good job in this league so hope he does get reintegrated into the team Screenshot_20210827_181225_com.instagram.android.jpg

Strike Christiano Ronny of the eyebrow list, yes he is 36 and so too old for many armchair pundits.
He has missed his chance of a win on the hallowed turf of The Hall, AND will, now, forever be a reknown loser here on the Riviera.
I'm not upset to be honest, he's played for our hated rivals Manchester United (hated because we beat them in the cup) and he would probably have tried to score own goals if he had signed for us because he played for them for a long time.
