A Bit of Fun Transfer Rumours Thread (Potential New Signings)

In his post match I interviewr, Brown alluded to fact that Coulson isn't quite match fit yet, so is playing an additional center back with him to see him through until he gets fit. He missed 4 weeks of preseason don't forget. Brown then said that once he is fit, we may go back to a back 4. Makes sense to me. Everyone else will be properly match fit by then too.nive to see that we can play both formations.

If it isn't Akinde, I wonder if the eyebrow striker is Omar Bogle. He is free to leave his club by all accounts. He has never seemed to settle at any club other than Grimsby. Always thought he was half decent.

That is an intriguing suggestion. According to Doncaster's impressive manager Richie Wellens, Doncaster have an established Division 1 striker lined-up and Omar Bogie is being chased by two Division Two clubs. That does not sound like Southend are in contention for his signature.

Has Mike Fontop found a club after being released by Burton Albion in May? He might be expensive also, and I am not sure it is necessary to bring in another striker on a permanent basis at this stage of the season.

Apparently Bradford City are the current favourites to sign him.

If we do decide to bring in another defender I have no idea why we wouldn't look at Kyprianou. Never put a foot wrong and was great in League 1 for us. Fits the bill of the 'left-footed centre half' that's desired.

Still a free agent
Even non league clubs don't want him! Injury prone and hardly much experience appearance wise. No thanks

Personally I'd take an upgrade on Kargbo, haven't seen him play yet but he seems clearly a backup big man rather than proper competition for a starting spot. I'd be wary of signing someone on the premise of them being a key player though like Mr Eyebrows, as I'd want to see Dalby, Murphy and another all battle it out together rather than Dalby be demoted to a backup, he seems too good for that for me.

Outside of that one more creative player in the Bridge mould would be nice, assuming both Akinola and ANG leave.

Quite possibly! I'm interested in the difference between Dennis 12 month contract and Kargbo being monthly.. guessing more credentials in the Dennis signing over Kargbo's... obviously Norwich are Prem and QPR Championship. Would have thought the best form players play on match days but.. loan contracts may stipulate otherwise? Disaster for our own promising youngsters pushing for first team places?

National League clubs are supposed to have a sustainable budget. I wouldn’t be surprised if we were struggling to demonstrate that and if it was therefore easier to get approval on the smaller expense of a monthly loan rather than a season long loan. Rushy has certainly been hard done by but I’m sure he’ll battle back into contention.

So, to keep our feet firmly on the ground, and to give you all a chance of humoring me yet again. About 6 weeks ago, it was all systems go with Moley and BW2 telling us there are lots of exciting things happening and they were expecting another 2 maybe 3 in through the doors,

(lets forget Saturday for a moment)

Since then Moley has pretty much departed, I suggested that we are under some sort of constraint that's been sanctioned on us (although BW2 and CP have advised that's not the case) I still am happy with my original thoughts.

We signed Dennis on loan since that time
and Kabaro on a month to month loan, both are youngsters

RH didn't sign, even though we all know that he was chomping at the bit too, PB wanted him (and martin has never stood in his way remember)

Someone well known who works at the club in and around the squad (not the burger man for example) suggested to me that we must be under some sort of embargo, and with Southend, if things don't seem right, then they generally are not

the wow signing (sorry I am getting my years mixed up) the Eye brows raised signing clearly isn't happening

certain established players are still not provided a squad number, or listed within the squad.

bringing me on the the Akinola and ANG situation, if Akinola has been pulling up trees in pre season (as Moley suggested) then why isnt he being played? Just thing how strong we would have looked on Saturday with someone like him playing or coming off the bench too. .

Surely any manager regardless of whether a player wants to be at the club or not, and as long as his attitude is still good would play a player, if he is an asset to the match day team? thats got to be a favorable way of selling a player isnt it? hes match ready and putting in a string of good performances and hes scoring the odd goal (any sales man would see thats more of a realistic way of selling someone,) as opposed to letting him train with some kids and not being match fit

This all says to me, that they (although are still signed on) have been de-registered....

I get the excitement of Saturday I really do, but this isn't about performances, just that something still don't feel right... ..

What was it the Brown alluded to in his interview early last week, about us having money problems and what not?? I even posted the comment on here

There is no budget constraints in the national league. It's why teams are able to spend and get out of the league on minimal crowds.

It's how Wrexham can afford to pay 7k pw for a striker to come in!!

Simply repeating it all again won't make it true...

Could be something, could be nothing.

Either way, at least this time we have players in and ready to battle for the shirt.

Maybe it's more a case of lessons being learned and with no transfer window, we can sign when we need rather than just for the sake of it.

Wrexham’s wealthy backers are how they can afford big wage forwards. They will have had to submit a budget showing how they would pay those wages.

Agree, and Stockport and others.

My take is PB has been given a budget and he is very close to having spent it. Ron (and not just Ron) were concerned about spending further on RH. And they are trying to keep to the budget (most on here have repeatedly demanded such rigorous management- indeed demanded a CEO to help achieve it). Given the budget situation there need to be outs to allow ins- hence PB wants Akinola and ANG off the wage bill. That, and the short term loan, gives some flexibility. But no ins without outs- there have been no outs so no ins...its not so very complicated.

Eyebrows is unlikely to resolved until the EFL deadline- time is the only ally we have on that one so was always going to be later rather than sooner. And by then if we have some off the books it might just be possible..
