A Bit of Fun Transfer Rumours Thread (Potential New Signings)

I’m sure West Ham are probably setting their sights for him a little higher than the National League, but would love us to have a look at getting Mipo Odubeko in on loan. Scored two against us at Roots Hall for their under-21’s in the Mickey Mouse cup last season and is gaining a real reputation with them. Strong, blistering pace and a prolific finisher. Would be a great addition.

You can't go into a 44-game season with one senior striker, a 21-year-old and two unproven youngsters as your only striking options. Especially as Murphy hasn't stayed fit for years.

1. Kargbo is clearly a done deal so that's three unproven youngsters
2. Ron's pointedly said that there's no transfer window in the Conference so if Murphy gets injured we'd look to loan someone in. Or sign the next Ranger/Halford.
3. We started last season with Goodship and an 18 yo striker who we promptly sold! We didn't even have Acquah until we'd gone a couple of games without scoring and brought him back.

Did Humphry's start the season with us or was he sold sooner?, either way letting him go was a massive mistake

He wasn't in the squad for the opening league game.

I think the mistake wasn't in letting him go (good player, but he wanted out) but in not replacing him - had we even signed a replacement in January we'd have probably escaped.

If we'd kept him until Jan we'd have been clear of the relegation zone and been in a better position to sign a decent replacement.

That mistake is during the summer transfer window directly led to our relegation

I don't think we would have been. Hunphrys would have got the same non-existant service that every other striker we had last season received. Repeating the absolute worldy that he scored against WHU U23s would probably have been the only way he would have gotten on the scoresheet.....and I don't think he would have repeated thay very often. If at all.

Come on everyone this is the thread about potential new signings, not raking up old news or about the persecution of the Barrys!

Anyone pick up anything at the MTBD?

Was the new first team coach there?

Au contraire I saw him score a few of those in his short time with us.

Has Andy Caroll announced his retirement? Without a club and living in Essex. I know it’s been a name mentioned before but he certainly won’t need a big salary and we would be as convenient as anywhere for him. Would be fantastic for Dalby and Kargbo to learn from I’d have thought.

Edit: Having read some of the articles he still seems keen to be playing regularly and so expect he’ll be wanting Championship rather than NL.

Seems to be absolute silence on ANG and just a mention of Akinola playing for ColU U23s. Surely if still paying them (and they are not bad players) you keep them training with you and potentially playing. Showing they are match ready must be a better selling position to be in or they might prove in training they are your cup of tea. Whilst PB might think he can get better for the wages, based on merit I can’t see why they wouldn’t be in our first team squad.

With Elvis is there a time limit on the compo rules or does he in effect end his career unless someone stumps up the money?
