A front two of Collymore JR and Eastwood JR would be amazing.
Whatever happened to Eastwood junior?

I think Senior would struggle to handle the physical demands of the National League C & P. If any of our released players are to sign for Southend, I would say that Tom Lapslie is the most likely.Yes he is going through a bad patch this season, I don’t know what the issue is, I think he just needs a new challenge, he will get another club no problem.
Still in the youth, had a loan spell with Canvey last season .... don't think he's really up to the standard at the momentWhatever happened to Eastwood junior?

With regards to lapsie he would be typical phil brown player, box to box midfielder with good work rate. Only problem with lapsie is he injury prone. You are probably right SB, he is a bit lightweight for that league, he looked like he was heading for the championship a couple of years ago but he is just not consistent enough. Tom would fit right in to the demands of the NL, but hopefully will get signed by a league 1/2 team.

Yep, all true. We shouldn't necessarily be in a rush to make a raft of new signings, even though fans will demand it. Our season starts a little later and we don't need to worry about the deadline, so we don't want to miss out on 'league' players dropping down because we have filled our squad with non-league players. It will be a difficult balance. Will be an interesting summer. Lots of players being released, L1 and L2 clubs having to operate with squad limits.
As a result, a lot of very good players will trickle down to the NL this summer. We could be in a situation where the top half of the National League is considerably stronger than much of League Two.
I don't think getting players in will be an issue, the problem is getting the right ones.
Hopefully not injury prone ones. I agree with you in regards to more players are available this summer compared to previous. We also got head start on the national league, so their no excuses interms of bringing in players ready for new season. Will be an interesting summer. We've released a couple of strikers who are primarily midlands or southern based;-
Courtney Baker Richardson (25) (who never actually got to play for us) - missed the 1st half of the season with an injury picked up around the time we signed him, then loaned to Barnet in the NL. Has played in the championship for Swansea scoring 3 goals at that level.
Mikael Ndjoli (23) - signed in January from Bournemouth where he was mainly in the reserves - but had been loaned to SPL team Kilmarnock in Scotland - scoring 5 goals, was also on loan at Gillingham in 2019/20 scoring 3 goals. was formerly an academy player at both Brentford and Millwall. only made 2 sub appearances for us as he couldn't get ahead of Scott Quigley and Calvin Andrew in the pecking order.
We've also released Calvin Andrew.
I imagine this is the type of player that we'll be after, i think we have been linked to him more often than Matt Lockwood :-)
I think PB has made the point about pre-season and fitness levels being absolutely key. Add to that if you make a number of signings you need time to integrate them, then I think PB will be pushing hard for signings to be in place for beginning of pre-season.Yep, all true. Really good article here as to who could fit the bill. Players like Cav Miley, Wesley Fonguck, Luke Coulson, Regan Booty, Craig Tanner and Courtney Duffus (who I think someone else mentioned on this thread) weren’t remotely on my radar, but look to be great players in National League.
that article is basically about the players from the 2019/20 season with the players from Barrow and Harrogate missing - with one exception John Rooney who score 17 goals for us in 2019/20 before getting an agent forced move to Stockport for £75,000. Harry Beautyman is probably one of the best attacking midfielders in the NL, but isn't highlighted in the article. He is at Sutton though - so may end up in the EFL soon. The National League: Who can make the jump to the Football League? (Part two)

Regan Booty is of course Martyn’s son
I have heard there are a number of league clubs sniffing around him.If Oxley leaves then I wouldn't mind us looking at Joe McDonnell from Eastleigh. Out of contract in the summer and seems to have done well this season.
Wiggy will like him as he leaves his line to claim crosses. In fact he has done it the most this season out of any National League goalkeeper.
