A Bit of Fun Transfer Rumours Thread (Potential New Signings)

It wouldn't even be in the top 3 forward lines in the National League.

Stockport have Quigley, Madden, and another fella whose name escapes me who got 17 last year.
Wrexham have Mullin, McAlinden and Hyde.
Chesterfield have Asante and Danny Rowe.

And there are plenty of other clubs who would fancy their strike force over ours including the likes of Boreham Wood, Solihull and Dagenham.

Don't think for one minute we are a big hitter in this division.
But we are!! Murphy is as good as any of the players u mentioned. And akinde does what's needed.

I’m sorry Steve but he isnt. He hs a run of good form every season then fades away. As mentioned a few months ago a goodnseason for Southend this season would be to consolidate and finish midtable and try and build some momentum for next season for a play off push.

This division is so competitive now it’s arguably just an extension of league 2. Look at the money spent on players this season alone…it’s time for 3 up 3 down. And as for Tshimanga coming to Chesterfield its because we have spent 125k to awuire him with extra’s of 25k for every promotion we get. Also he has signed a 3 year deal here. Its going to be a seriously hard division this season with us and stockport having quality squads,Wrexham/Notts County aswell and the ln the normal solid teams…bromley, solihull etc. You can’t underestimate these sides.

Best of luck next season from a Chesterfield Fan

He will surely be off straight away if you don't go up this season. Astonished at his age that he didn't try and get a starting spot at a league club, a good signing for you.

I imagine if he starts firing them in he will be gone by January to be honest as he turned down Bolton,Walsall,Hartlepool,Vale among others to sign for us. The three year deal is good because we should get a good fee if so and then if he did go Asante is due back at Xmas so we are fine + Rowe. Looking good for us this season! Very excited to start the season.

There have been some great signings from the promotion contenders this season. I have never seen non league so competitive. We will have to roll our sleeves up against these bigger clubs and really grind out some results.

Just remember that Sutton won the league last season and they didn't throw money at it.

An impressive squad on paper doesn't get you promoted
Some wise words, brigg blue. And the pressure really mounts on those teams that have broken the bank if their team does not hit the ground running. Good luck to Chesterfield but spending money is no recipe for footballing success in any league. There will be some stars in the National League this year who are probably unknown at the moment. We just hope some of them are at Southend! For example, I would not be surprised if he is given a fair chance Sam Dalby turns out to be an outstanding signing.

One of the main routes to success in this league is to make shrewd loan signings. Hopefully we can be one of the clubs that make good decisions in this area.

I take and acknowledge your point re Sutton, however last season was a season like no other, especially in the NFL.
There was no great home advantage, no crowd pressure or impetus, remember we WON our only 2 proper, in front of limited fans, matches.
Also Sutton had a plastic pitch, which HTFC also had, which must amount to the small % benefit needed to turn draws to wins etc.

Lady luck, refs, support, injuries, timing of games and opponents need to fall right for us to push on.

lol deluded.
Murphy is certainly right up there in terms of goals per game at NL level (1 in every two). Indeed he was 1 in 3 in the EFL. Top player at this level.

So assume you refer to Akinde (the alleged Mr. Eyebrows) and who you think has very little chance of coming? Without some assistance from Gillingham and flexibility from the player you would definitely be right- and that a lot of assistance and flexibility! Yet it lives on..

That's extremely surprising to say the least, a bizarre career move for him.
I recall saying weeks ago that you need to spend money on attracting the big strikers in this league, either a transfer fee or wages, or both. I suspect to date that we’ve paid no transfer fees and no big wages, let’s see if this works come May.

We have paid no fees, and we are trying to keep wages within a structure, but Murphy and Ogogo won't have been "cheap".
