A Bit of Fun Transfer Rumours Thread (Potential New Signings)

If the Akinde thing is a goer. I guess it will involve a transfer fee, as he has been listed with one year still to run on his contract. Are we going to forgo our compensation on Elvis, and effectively do a swap deal?

Speaking to someone from the Gillingham side of things, he doesn’t expect them to ask for a fee.

Of course the assumption is that Akinde is the player in question and nobody has jumped to conclusions?

There is talk of him coming to us but I hope not, I feel it would be a waste of money. We have just got a load of cash for Poku from Peterborough, Akinde wouldn’t suit our style of play.

The last WOW signing was a complete disaster - truly hope PB has learned from Kiernan
Was it that much of a disappointment when he signed? Seemed like injuries just wrecked him which is hard to predict if someone doesn't already have a record of it before signing (like Hyam).

Perhaps a fresh speech from Phil yesterday has made that story out of date already? Or perhaps not?

One of the interesting things about this article is that Steve Evans said he wants to bring in new players (and presumably a new striker) before Wednesday or he will stick with what he already has for the game at the weekend. I think that this could be seen as a bit of a hint to Akinde he could find himself further down the pecking order after Wednesday and it is probably time for Akinde to make his mind about a move. Unfortunately, Southend is almost certainly not the only club after the Gillingham player.
