A Bit of Fun Transfer Rumours Thread (Potential New Signings)

I thought Elvis said he wanted to help us get out of the NL, maybe i mis read that.

Not surprised by Dieng, but hey ho we have signed replacements for midfield

As far as I’m concerned as many of the people as possible involved in the double relegation can feck right off out of here anyway.

Yeah really not that fussed. I think Elvis is a fairly average League 2 fullback. He can be fantastic going forward but I still think he could be better going the other way. We shouldn’t be breaking the bank for a right back IMO.

Tim Dieng I never really rated as a midfield player as he always shirked a tackle but he did have a defence splitting pass in his locker every now and then. The ball into Cox for his hat trick at home to Pompey a few years back springs to mind. But I did think he performed admirably last season and formed a decent partnership with Shaun Hobson. With John White and Lennon constantly injured it was good to have TD around.

But if he thinks he can do better then let him go. Totally replaceable.

Can’t begrudge it for either of them, but Elvis’ words on staying to come back up leave a bitter taste when he doesn’t even turn up for pre-season. Showed his youth and naivety there.

He's not under contract any more. If I was leaving my job, my contract ended, and they wanted me back for a training seminar a week after I'd left, i wouldn't go to be honest.

Not fussed about Elvis or Dieng. My concern was really that if they showed up Brown would hand out a contract - as he seems to want to with anyone who crosses his path. Ralph and Lennon are next for me - they are part of a squad that's been relegated twice - the more of them we ship out, the better.

Would imagine its done with the clubs consent.

He's out of contract and negotiations continue I guess.

I'm sure he wasnt expected back and its a big shock he's not there. Echo bit naughty there with an out of context headline I suspect....

Depends though; if that training seminar was going to benefit you, and you had nothing else to do, then it would be worth going. If these players have nowhere to go at the moment, why not turn up to keep yourself fit?

Hope Elvis has got himself sorted out with a decent club. Seems like he needs a fresh start to be honest and kick on his career. Lets just hope we get the £'s we deserve. Wasn't there a whisper that the O's were interested?

Dieng - He seems to be a 6/10 player every game, never brilliant but never the worst - I think there is better value out there, so not sad to see him go. I think his versatility will be attractive to some lower Lg2 sides.

According to that Non League transfer rumour Twitter account, Torquay, Weymouth, Aldershot, Yeovil and Notts County want him.
If that’s true, I guess that Notts County is just down the road from Chesterfield, that would make sense. I doubt we would offer enough incentive to relocate.

Because Phil Brown does not have a monopoly on keeping people fit. I am sure Elvis has a personal trainer. He's currently in a negotiating position, and it's best for him to stay away at this stage when he has designs on staying in the Football League, especially as they're just in for testing this week, not training. With all the COVID flying around at the moment and most of the squad not I suspect being double jabbed, why take the risk?

I totally agree, it may well be that they have found or are talking to other clubs. They would probably get better financial deals at a number of clubs in NL, Dagenham, Bromley, spring to mind or even League 2.

I'd be surprised if we haven't offered Elvis a deal, from what I understand we don't get any compensation if we haven't offered him a contract renewal.

I was just providing an alternative view, I'm not saying that's what he should do

Disappointed that Elvis has not shown up, maybe has good reason?
Realistically he will get a better standard of football away from The Hall next year and his agent ought to be able to arrange that, if not then the agent needs sacking.
It is a short career and Elvis is at a crucial time and age.
Good luck to him, he IS a really nice lad and has his dreams.
A creative contract with buy out clauses could still be offered.
