Rather have Maguire-Drew to be honest.

Jake Hyde is still bubbling away.
Transfers aren’t as “easy” as they are in computers games, and especially with all these restrictions in place, it has made things even more difficult. Players have gone on holiday to “amber” countries and had to isolate on their return, players have been deemed “close contacts” of positive cases and players have tested positive too. All of these things make these long, drawn out processes even longer and more difficult.
PB and his crew, have been working round the clock, travelling 100s of miles, spending hours upon hours on the phone, and working outside of “normal” office hours (one of our completed deals was signed and sealed over a weekend) to improve the squad.
I heard, over the weekend, one of our targets signed for another NL Club, for £3000 per week. We aren’t splashing the cash, and we aren’t being tight with it.
BoyWonder2, are the discussions with the National League striker still continuing? It would be good to get an update.
Talks are still ongoing.
Have been told not to be surprised if there is a new face for the “proper” start to pre-season on Monday. But whether that’s a permanent signing, a trialist, or someone from another club training, or even us doing a player a favour I don’t know. Time will tell.
Does anyone know whether Dieng and Elvis turned up for training today ?
Apologies if this is picked up elsewhere and Ive missed it
I see that Gillingham, Derby, Hull, Reading, Fleetwood Swindon, Oldham and Scunthorpe have all been placed under a transfer embargo for failing to provide their accounts to the EFL by 31st May
It links to a requirement to provide accounts to EFL and the publishing of names of clubs (, new rule) that fail to do so, this is picked up by failure to provide these accounts to Companies House
It means that these teams cannot pay transfer fees or top up loanees pay but can still sign free agents and loanees. Gills for example have signed 6 freebies but under the embargo can only register players until the end of the season and loans are limited to half a season
Under the terms of the embargo and to retain the integrity of the league , clubs are allowed to "staff up" to a squad of 23 which they need to get in place
Just wondering where this leaves us in terms of accounts with the NL ?
Well seeing as we werent named ,i would hazard a guess to say the club have provided their accounts to the EFL.Apologies if this is picked up elsewhere and Ive missed it

Not necessarily. We are no longer in the EFL. Maybe the NL hasn’t caught up with us yet.Well seeing as we werent named ,i would hazard a guess to say the club have provided their accounts to the EFL.

I am rather hoping Tom Whelan, the 25 year old attacking midfielder who has just left Chesterfield, might be joining Southend for training next week. He scored 5 goals in 27 games for Chesterfield last season and many of their supporters are upset and angry he has left the club. Apparently, they paid a five figure fee for Whelan in November 2020 and he has now left the club by 'mutual consent'.
According to that Non League transfer rumour Twitter account, Torquay, Weymouth, Aldershot, Yeovil and Notts County want him.
Can’t begrudge it for either of them, but Elvis’ words on staying to come back up leave a bitter taste when he doesn’t even turn up for pre-season. Showed his youth and naivety there.
