A Bit of Fun Transfer Rumours Thread (Potential New Signings)

Lennon has more than a mountain to climb in order to earn any ounce of respect from me as a fan and I'm sure I speak for plenty of others too. He is quite possibly the epitomy of our downfall. Overpaid, overrated, underappreciative of the club and unfit.

Why we have even considered retaining this guy is beyond me. We make some good moves in the market and then we get info like this.

Is this alluding to the massive overreaction of a player going for a beer after losing a match whilst wearing a club tracksuit?

The Dover incident was silly and ill thought out. Made to make a public apology and play in the Under 23s followed, so as a young man, we can only trust in a Lesson Learned, but hardly a Ranger comparison is it, although some appear to see it as worse

I bet Nile ranger would never go down the pub wearing a tracksuit.

Let’s not forget that Lennon has bones made of dry spaghetti. Get rid!
Indeed. The number of games played is a bit of a red herring. Until with us he was a peripheral player at a higher league club. Whilst with us the impact injuries are unlucky, and he was certainly asked to play injured and did, and to put off an operation which he did. Invariably playing injured also leads to other problems. I think his injury situation is more White than Hyam tbh but the club should have good insight. I think the Dover incident still colours the view from some- in pure footballing terms if we think he will be fit, and at the right salary, the question once again is how easy it would be to recruit someone as good or better? It goes back to wanting the best possible squad we can assemble with our budget and that brings compromises.
so nice to read a balanced post

Really not sure what Brown sees in keeping Lennon here. 39 appearances in 3 seasons tells you all you need to know. The lad is made of glass unfortunately. Always had at least one howler in him per game too. Surprised Ron would sanction it given the amount of money we’ve paid to injured players in the past. Unless it’s a very low basic wage weighted with appearance and performance bonuses.

Has anyone had a guess as to who the young strikers from Norwich and QPR coming in on trial could be?
This one's a bit of a puzzler as we were promised some tall lads coming in on trial and I don't think their U23 strikers are especially tall? Tyrese Omotoye is prob the most likely name from Norwich I would have thought, was in L1 last season but struggled for game time so would probably need to try out a level or two below.

I suspect that Lennon and Ralph have been offered contracts which are based on their injury rec.You would like to think that both these players would have some loyalty towards Southend for supporting them during their injuries but i very much doubt it.If they wont to wear the shirt then so be it but if they think they can do better somewhere else then they know where the door is.

Might well be because we are in the NL and not offering enough money. At least two other CB's I know of have turned us down for teams that Shrimpers will expect to finish higher than.
Spot on ......
The initial offers given to the players as a start to negotiations were very very low (lower than you'd expect at this level). There is a point where players will be better going part time like Goodship has and possibly doing other things to make up their incomes. Others have better experience at negotiating and have the contacts within the club directly to facilitate this. Younger ones may not have this option.
Those that the club have decided they definitely cannot afford to lose have had ongoing negotiations but as always the club aren't great at maintaining communication, plus there's things not helping in the background a the moment which cant be talked about. Its been a messy business for some to strike a mutually agreeable deal.

It shouldn’t equate to us spending part of the budget on someone that we know we’ll be lucky to get 15 games out of though.

There's a link on the OS to download fixtures to your calendar - but it is on the page which still shows last year's fixtures so good luck with that....

I expect the FL's web-site can't cope with non-league fixtures.

Kings Lynn say they'll have live streaming for all their home games next season

ITK, are you able to shed any light at all on the ‘things in background’? Are they stadium related etc?
