A Bit of Fun Transfer Rumours Thread (Potential New Signings)

We may regret letting Akinola go. He was clearly suffering from injury for much of the season and he had a good record in the NL. Will Murphy alone be sufficient to get the goals we need? In 1936 Joe Payne scored ten goals in a single game for Luton v Bristol Rovers. Does he have any footballing descendants available for transfer to us I wonder......?
I thought Akinolla had a 2 year contract ??

Players in and out may be a bit different than we are used to given no transfer deadlines etc

Seems strange to think of the possibilities of up to 12 short term loanees allowed ( max 28 days )

Add to the stock 6 long term loanees allowed with 5 on any team sheet !

Plus a reminder that the top 7 finishers in this league averaged close to 5 loanees each over the course of the season

So I wonder if we may see more comings and goings over the season, than we have seen before? equally therefore no immediate panic I assume , as long as we have 16 players registered 2 weeks before the season starts, i think, looking at NL rules

I cannot stress enough how poor a piece of business it would be to let Akinola go. He scored 20 at this level two seasons ago, (yes, a few pens in there..), and he showed glimpses last season of what he can do.

Give him a stronger side around him and he'll do well for us next season.
Akinola has never scored 20 goals in a season, the season you refer to he scored 15 and 6 of those came from the penalty spot. He’s never been a high scorer season on season, he has tended to be a wondering wide player.

Yes, that is how I thought he played, forward winger who cuts inside, not a centre forward, a lesser Andy Ansah or Ricki Otto, basically the same role as Ricky Holmes?

Sounds like you need a small squad of good players and fill any injuries and absences with Loans as and when

I can't see any signs of it on the official site, in fact the first team mug shots show him still with us. And for what it's worth Wiki also has him still with us. Mind you sod's law dictates that now I have posted this he will be off this morning!

The official site mug shots still show Kenny Coker who the official site reported as joining Norwich in May, Idi Osimeh who the OS reported was released in May and even Sam Knock who I believe left last summer! There are no profiles for any of the confirmed signings either. The mug shots are about as reliable as those random transfer rumour twitter accounts.

Far more reliable is the SZ contract tracker.

That tells us that Akinola is still under contract for a further season. However reading between the lines I expect him to be off as he isn't rated by/is too young for PB.

You're really think that a football club's official website would be the most reliable source for info of this nature, wouldn't you. However, I cannot remember a time when our OS was anything close to this.

With a view to a permanent move, or just with a view to a loan move?

Both clubs with teenage strikers on their books that we've sold to them!

Definitely need to put a time limit or draw the line through the players that haven't been able to agree terms.

Disappointed we've heard anything on the Holmes front. Before the end of last season he was saying won't be relegated while I'm at the club, it was kind of a heroic thing to say but inevitably we were... JW signed. JD and TD we know negotiations were still on going. With Holmes I thought, nows the time to double down on what you said and get us back up.

Looks like Phil Brown saw this and scrambled out a response via the local rag. :Winking:

Ohhhh lemme see! I just had a look, they posted about 20 minutes before me so I'm a fraud. Good to know something though. Creative players are so hard to replace, and I'm hopefully Ricky will bring a lot of it in NL.
