A Bit of Fun Transfer Rumours Thread (Potential New Signings)

Arnold was mentioned to me a few weeks back now. I personally think it’s a solid signing. Only 1 game, but I watched him in the playoff final for Northampton in 2020 and I thought he was superb

A target man, a centre back and maybe a right back depending on what happens elvis/demetriou and then I’d say we were ok.

Crowd levels have little in the way of budget at this level. There is no wage cap and it's the very reason that teams like Sutton can win the league.

The National Legue are proposing to introduce a wage-cap from season 2022/2023. Indications are around £900k for Step 1 (Conf National) and £540k for Step 2 (Conf North and South) which far too high a figure for those 2 leagues.

The key word is proposed. It should be capped as per income from gate receipts as it is at other levels

Erm, in which leagues are you thinking wages are capped per income from gate receipts?

Best you look at this as issued by the National League from recent AGM, would appear the clubs are somewhat in favour…

An ordinary resolution was voted in favour of by member clubs to introduce a salary cap from the 2022-23 season (the National League's minutes did not state amounts although it has been reported the suggested figures will be £900k per year for each Step One club and £540k per Step Two club).
A working party represented by clubs will consult with the aim of bringing a full proposal to the 2022 EGM for the membership to vote on.

Given that the L1 & L2 wage caps were scrapped what makes the NL think theirs won't be?

Out of interest are NL players allowed to be members of the PFA?

Why not? All our squad are full time pros and members now so it makes no sense to me that the PFA would only cover league teams.
It would appear NL players are not eligible. This is from the PFA site:

If you are at a Premier League, FA WSL or English Football League club on a full contract, your club delegate and the club secretary will coordinate your annual PFA membership. You will pay a one-off joining fee of £20 when you first become eligible, and then pay a membership fee for every season you remain employed as a professional footballer.

Not sure what happens to the membership of players coming out of the EFL, but I suppose it's the same if they're being transferred overseas and their membership is cancelled.

I believe once you have become a member you retain that status for life.
