We are the lower league version of England painfull to watch at times. However, I know Kev loves a small squad. The game has changed. It's all down to numbers. Whoever, has the best squad will win the league not the best 11!

Look on Saturday, daggers made all the subs (5) this is going to be a game changer. Barnet had strength in numbers to out see the game.

Firstly injuries are up around 52% in the past 23 years, Therefore should you have a larger or smaller squad. Having capable replacements in each position reduces the risk of a single injury disrupting the team's rhythm and ambitions.

Rotation allows the boss to play around with formations and also ensures that first teamers do not slack off, because they know that any dip in form will see them swiftly replaced. It also gives everyone a taste of the action, making them even hungrier and more determined to do their best to win their positions, So Bigger or smaller?

I would suggest EFL clubs not wanting/bidding for our players would not necessarily be a good sign… more we would ideally have contractual security with players to ensure we get value (we have), have financially stability to allow us to use that value to reinvest, and a dynamic whiteboard in place, reflecting a top notch scouting/ talent identification, that allows those replacements to strengthen not weaken us.

If we wanted to sell to the EFL but buy from the Isthmian league I would not anticipate a footballing success story to rapidly follow.

Back to potential incomings....it does seem that Wrexham are prepared to allow strikers Jake Bickerstaff and Sam Dalby to leave the club ahead of Friday's transfer deadline.
Neither were in the Wrexham squad last Saturday.
Wrexham are after another striker from Sheffield Wednesday which will push them both further down the pecking order.
I suspect Jake Bickerstaff is indeed a main target of ours to come in on loan. Not sure about Dalby as I suspect they would prefer to sell him if there is sufficient interest from the EFL.

You won’t change them, so why bring that problem? Some will see this player that doesn’t work hard, and he normally works his bollocks off, and he decides he is gonna toss it off.

One bad banana ruins the fruit bowl, so why bring in a bad banana in the hope you can change them?

Also, you mentioned great managers and Harry Redknapp in the same breath. I’m assuming that was a joke.

Is our ethos any different to the majority? I highly doubt clubs would choose to go for someone who is known to have a poor attitude. It's usually only done when the player has huge potential of a skill upgrade.

For clarity I am fully behind sticking to the right ethos. Just don't think that's anything new or surprising.

it's probably a fairly standard ethos but clubs will have differing risk appetite in terms of how far they're prepared to deviate from it in recruitment or the levels of DD they do. The implication from a lot of the stuff we've heard from JS and the coaching team is that we place a lot of value in it,

He was a class man management manager back in his prime. Look at some of his teams of past glory, Spurs and Portsmouth etc and some of the difficult players he managed and got the best out of them. This is fact.

We kind of concentrating on a point I said, not looking at the bigger picture.

Am I missing something here? We've lost 1 game only. We win Saturday and could be in the playoff spots. The EFL window will also be shut, so we can bring better quality in thereafter.

Plenty of fans need to take a step back for a minute. My mate came out with such a good statement on Monday pre-match, "You don't go from being nearly bankrupt and liquidated to winning the league in one season!" He is so right. Any one on here who really believes we should be doing that doesn't know how the reality of football works. Barnet have built and built over several seasons. FGR's have a rich owner with a fantastic infrastructure and can afford to overspend. If fans genuinely think we should be competing with that when we were only taken over a few months ago and when COSU still have to pay off Ron's debts and have to do up a defunct stadium, I'm truly lost for words.

Plenty of us have said this numerous times, we are a handful of players away from having a really competitive team. Just have a little bit of patience and be grateful we still have a club to support.

I'm not sure you are missing anything per say but the point is, we already had a small squad and have lost several players to injury. We appear to have the most stringent process in terms or funds for players and character. I say this because other teams are making plenty of signings whereas we seem to be constantly struggling. May not be the case but it seems that way externally.

Yes we have only lost one but have been poor in several.

We are the best supported club in the league and it would be hoped that we could show a little more in getting some top level signings for this level.

The consortium want promotion and likely need promotion. They also need the clubs finances as high as possible in gate receipts and matchday revenue.

The only way for that to happen is via the play off lottery or pay out for that extra bit of quality

If his dad was involved in his son turning down a contract with us to pursue others then his dad i would say has runed his sons promising career , he was doing well with us and was a prospect , at least i thought so having watched him play in matches via NLTV .

Everyone in football management takes a punt, but, just like at the racecourse, different punters place their money on different animals.

Interesting in that Wrexham triggered an extension for a further year rather than a new contract- presumably an extension is on prior terms.

This may have been done purely to ensure he commanded a fee in this window. Or possibly with a view to loaning out and making a decision on whether to offer a new contract during the season. I have a feeling the former- afterall the latter runs the risk he will just see out his contract instead and get a more attractive move as a result.

He only started 14 games in L2- I doubt he will be starting many if any in L1.

But surely a L2 club will come in for him? If they don’t then maybe we have a chance once the EFL window closes? We we need it to be a loan? Wages as others have said may be an issue..

Seems to me we lost out just last week on Glover he went to Barnet and the loan off Tshmanga who went to Swindon on loan., Are there others we dont know about . .It dosent really matter but i would enjoy seeing Dennis come back even on loan if possible the lad had pace to burn whilst he was here, dont know if its possible though .But we cerainly need some more through the door, saying this i trust JS ,Kev and co and COSU TO DO IT RIGHT .

But other teams who are signing players are not going through what COSU are having to go through. They aren't just sorting transfers right now. They are trying to sort the entire club out as they go along. If they took over our club and we'd been in FF with no debt and a stadium/ training ground fit for purpose, then fair enough, we could gripe about the lack of signings. The fact is, they are trying to sort everything out and I'm sure that goes beyond what is in the public eye.

I'm not saying I'm not frustrated by the need for more players, as I've stated that on several occasions. I'm just asking for some patience as there is so much to consider. The narrative that Maher or COSU don't want to sign players just simply isn't true. As you said, both of those want us to get promoted, but we can't do that overnight.

i love Dalby but i wonder a bit where he'd fit in our current line up, he's not going to help with the lack of pace and i'm not sure he could play the Cardwell role (while he's a good hold up player, he was always a lot better with balls to feet than in the air and won't be able to press with the same intensity).

Probably a moot point anyway as we couldn't afford him unless Wrexham feeling generous.
