Transfer News and Gossip Transfer Rumours Thread 2024/25 - Time to Cook 👨‍🍳

Transfer news
Genuine answer: Harry Taylor was thought of as a possible right wingback at first and I think he played there a couple of times for us.
Wood never adds much further forward but unlike better options Powell and Fonguck,is still on our books.
If you’re a fan of Powell can Cricko interest you in a mug? Like Chris they’re a bit old but still a fan favourite.
Has Demi played any minutes in pre season?
No.

He doesn’t appear to be training in the photos either

However good to see Noor out there.

So Zuriel O-T still with us and unlike Trialist A under his own name…
Assuming unless we are trying to get in the Guinness Book of Records for having someone on trial the longest this is the answer to the RWB question…
And we were told we were taking one trialist?

Yeah. But then he spent the windfall on lawyers / failed planning permission / salary to self or wife / interest on debt / helicopters
Add to that... paying off terminated contracts (managers and players) and wages on has been, wow signings that were lucky enough to find a club like we were back then, happy to give them a final decent pay day.

one big question for me is whether Demetriou will play. if he's got a playing contract he gives us cover for Gus plus versatility to play all over. if he's not playing we need cover for Gus. then we need a back up keeper. beyond that i'm relaxed, but having literally no cover makes me nervous.
Genuine question, who would cover Gus if he can't play?
I think possibly Taylor, possibly Jack Wood. Don't think you'd want either of them in there for 15 games but in that eventuality I'm guessing we'd probably loan someone in. There's a lot of versatility in our back-line so it doesn't bother me too much. What we're lacking is an attacking midfielder who can break down teams who set up to defend.

I suspect we’d go 442 or 433 with Taylor at RB

At least that was something to do with trying to win at football, even if the strategy or implementation was flawed.

That would be the dream doubt it , I wasn’t in Ireland but sounded he played well, a striker is key imo .
So calm down then. We played a trialist who you want to sign and didn’t play those three I mentioned. Treat them as new signings on Saturday. And by all accounts Walker played well (again) and got hooked at half time.

It’s a friendly, it’s about getting the players a run out and no injuries. We achieved that it seems so that’s a successful evening. It’s not embarrassing

Seriously? Wouldn’t call it embarrassing, would be a travesty. But we do have a club and should be winning these .
Guinness can **** with your performance, ask me wife.

Some perspective would be nice. I’d happily watch our current crop all season with no additions after the heroics they’ve achieved. They’ve earned that and I’m pretty certain they’ll continue to earn it.

The naming of Zuriel was a mistake by Ballyfermot, he is no longer with the club as per CP.

Hopefully after tonight embarrassing result they can see it’s needed badly
Why is it embarrassing ? Our opposition play in the level directly below the League of Ireland. They have reached the 3rd round of the Irish equivalent of the FA Cup. Would suggest that at worst their level is Conference North/South. All this talk about Sunday League at best is misguided.
Yes we should be winning every game, but in the real world it doesn't happen.
