Transfer News and Gossip Transfer Rumours Thread 2024/25 - Time to Cook šŸ‘Øā€šŸ³

Transfer news
We need a few more in but unlike the last 15-20 years itā€™s not a rebuild. We have a very good starting 11 & bench which will be superior to the majority of teams in this league and unlike most of those season gone this 11 should be well gelled and ready to go on the first game of the season, theyā€™ll know their jobs and team mates.

We can be patient for the right additions - rather than panic buy.

We do but it's a very thin squad.

Lose one or two to injury and we would really struggle

Thanks to Ron Embargo Martin 18 clubs have so far brought in 6 or more players compared to our 2. Fortunately with the tiniest intake in the league to date we will be a very close knit unit again with the smallest squad and without a ten point deduction! this time round, so should stand us in good stead, despite perhaps losing whiteboarders, we have a great core squad

Still time to make some great moves of a right royal Sir Still nature , loaners or otherwise

In the Echo today Kevin was talking about the Gillingham game tomorrow and he said we are a little bit short of bodies so whether he means for tomorrow or in general? So they must have an idea how many they need to bring in for the long season ahead

Do you have any numbers for departures?

I think weā€™ve nearly 85% of the minutes played last season still at the club (ie no Fonguck, Mooney, Kabongolo, Martin, Kanu etc).

Would be interesting to see how this compares to other clubs. I suspect other clubs have a far higher rate of attrition (particularly given the reliance on loan players) and so need to bring in more.

Would be a really disappointing signing. Not only did he mug us off previously he has also done f*** all since then too. Would rather players and/with agents who only want money to go elsewhere.
If the three amigos want him then I want him.

They know what he is and what he is about. Remember as what was mentioned the other day, only reason he isn't our player is because of ONE person moving the goalposts at the last moment.

Agreed, two poor seasons surely must right some alarm bells

Wasnā€™t this because our previous owner decided to get involved and moved goal posts last minute though ?
I dont believe that to be true. It was reported at the time that the player agent got offered more by Dagenham and we had done everything we could from our side. IIRC I dont believe Ron was the reason even though that is who people will naturally blame. Remember in fairness to Ron he tended to always support the managers when he could with who they wanted to sign. Probably the only bit of fairness we can give him to an extent.
