Transfer News and Gossip Transfer Rumours Thread 2024/25 - Time to Cook šŸ‘Øā€šŸ³

Transfer news
Could always be a year with an option, or 18 months with an option. He's at the back end of his career and would probably rather finish it with us
Had a quick google search and canā€™t find any confirmation of his contract length at Braintree. Iā€™d be surprised if itā€™s less than 2 years though and heā€™s highly unlikely to sign if we donā€™t match it.

I don't hate the potential effiong signing, the guy is bit of handful who has pedigree at this level. My guess would be a loan deal of some sorts with us covering half the wages. With the transfer market shut in majority of league it's very difficult to recruit at this stage so we are currently limited interms of options. Bringing in guy who proven at this level is decent business to be fair.

Have you watched their games then?
I did, but hard to judge when Braintree is not playing to his strengths. Lisbie, they got from Cray Valley seems to be their main threats. Effilong come off the bench for them Vs Woking.

To make it work for Effilong, we need to whip early balls into our penalty box for him to living up to his surname, by being Eff-ectively .

Just had a text about this deal so thought Iā€™d see if it had been mentioned on here. We offered Effiong a 1 year plus option deal if he made a certain amount appearances, we could t risk a two year deal with him after his collapse and further injury later in the season so he opted for the two year offered by Braintree who will be out of business they way theyā€™re going about their business.

Effiong is very erratic will score absolute worldies but also miss glaring chances, he is a target man but also not very mobile so depending what you want he could be a decent signing, if you want to play with a press or tempo he is not your man.

Yes I think they are already struggling financially and trying to loan players in rather than sign them, they took one of our young defenders on loan Friday, Frankie Terry a very decent player who may well end up in our 1st team next season. He is the son of Paul Terry, John Terry and Paul Konchesky are his uncle's, if he get's to be as good as John we might make a few bob! They now have 5 ex/current Col U players in their squad, no doubt their management duo also ex Col U will be back for more loans soon.

Sounds totally the opposite of what we want to be honest. We like to press teams

Yea concerning if our most forward thinking players trying to press are the dads army of effiong and moncur! šŸ˜³
Moncur was brilliant yesterday and pressed all game. His age was irrelevant.

We have one striker at the moment with very little experience. If we have an opportunity to replace 18 goals Cardwell with 16 goals Effiong, I'd take that all day, especially at this stage of the season where getting an adequate replacement is extremely difficult.

Bim could do that 60 mins then Effiong on to cause havoc last 30. Also if he helps us up the park weā€™d have the ball so wouldnā€™t need to press so much.
Still need another striker to play alongside Bim until that moment...

How long are Waldron and Walker away?

Is it still months?

.....and we still need to replace Cardwell anyway. We have been crying out for a proven goalscorer and Effiong has the credentials to do a shortish term job for us. Presumably played with Appiah Forson at Daggers too.
Do you have any idea what the bid that has been accepted involves Leeblue? Is it for a loan or a permanent deal??
