I really do expect eith some loanees in before Saturday or permanents what with Taylors injury and Ralphs suspension. Plus players need a rest ,think that showed last night how important it is now to get some more bodies in .
Ralphā€™s out for one game. Weā€™re not gonna sign someone to cover that and nor should we.

I can see us bringing a CB in for Taylor as weā€™re short in that area anyway with Kensdaleā€™s departure. Funny how things change so quickly because in the summer Iā€™d have said centre half was one of the positions we had most coverage for.

Surely Gubbins comes in at LCB for Ralph, so we do have a body there. Option of playing Gus RCB with Wind RWB, not ideal.

Will wait to see the result of Taylorā€™s injury first Iā€™d imagine.

Would hate to see Gus/Wind at RCB as they want to get forward so much.

Think sticking Morton back there has to be a short term option for 1 game, like Miley has done.

My post was more because of tiredness and a need to rest players more to do with player management ,and im thinking loanees until January more than cover for Ralph or Taylor. Its apparent to me one off the resons we are so hot and cold is tiredness , from the fact we playing just about every tuesday and Saturday. How come we played so well Saturday and so lethargigicly Tuesday ,why thoughts is tiredness ,especially the likes of Moncur , Bonne who didnt get a preseason in with us. Loanees until January when the transfer window opens again in the EFL and some decent players become available would be what i would be looking at .

With Taylor out now, all so predictable, hopefully next year we can have a clear run at recruitment and pre season preparation and aim for a minimum squad of 23 to kick off

If we could bring in 5 more now / joke/ we could reach the average squad size in this :Winking2: league
17 clubs now built a club squad between 24 and 30. . Average squad size of top 8 clubs is 26, So far none of the 5 clubs with a small squad of 21 or less , including us , reside in the top 10
Hope we are the first to do it, and think we will, but ideally I would like 2 or 3 more, to come in soonish, but seems unlikely given our need to prioritize sustainability , and the unfortunate hand we were given to start with, though Kev is probably feeling a bit desperate unsurprisingly , constantly talking of the squad shortage these days and the resulting impact
Some big squads are also failing and in the Relegation zone as you would expect especially if 17 clubs are fairly well off. But ts all about the balance of probabilities for success being on your side with a larger squad for all the very clear multiple reasons given , and thats why these days it helps and why clubs have recognised the need to do it

Thats an insane take!

Guy hasnt trained properly for months, its not his fault. Probably at least 2 months of games away from being match fit. Jesus christ, our fans....
I don't get the lack of training, unless he was injured, then fair enough, there is no excuse for him not getting in touch with a local club or old manager and asking to train with them to keep his fitness levels up. We do it all the time with players

You say no excuse but I think thatā€™s unfair. We donā€™t know what goes on in these players minds and if youā€™ve not felt the love of previous clubs and been released maybe the get up and go was not present for a while. I donā€™t know the guy and have never met him but these are humans not robots, Iā€™m sure we will see the best out of him now he has a home.

We also need to remember that Noor was injured and had an operation during pre season, all of a sudden he is playing 90s, Moncur obviously well documented with his preseason. KAF without a pre season too.

I am not excusing the way we have played, but we do need to understand certain aspects as to why this may be the case? We can only get better, keep calm and stay patient as we have 35 games to go.

KAF spent his pre-season in the PFA camp, so a slightly different scenario.

This the transfer rumours page yeah?... let's go wild...

Tom Lockyer 1 month loan from Luton to help with his rehabilitation. He has been in training over the summer, same specialist as Eriksen, at Man Utd, has cleared him to play again... John Still connection.

Thanks and good night, tin hat time. Quickly retires to the quiet end of the zone again šŸ¤£
Now you've probably started something šŸ¤£

I get that he wonā€™t have the match sharpness yet but weā€™re talking about not having a basic level of fitness.

He signed more than 2 weeks ago and Iā€™d suggest is still at a level of fitness below that of the rest of the squad when they reported to pre-season.

You donā€™t need to be attached to a club to do your own pre-season. There was talk about getting him to fall in love with football again.

It was Wind at RCB, Gus at RWB last night wasnā€™t it?

Not ideal is putting it very gently I would suggest- brings the double whammy of weakening our defence (be amazed if he has ever played there) whilst removing at the same time our top scorer as a goal threat.

Bonne had no pre-season and is already playing 90 minutes regularly. Clearly not fully up to speed or sharp. A few on here rubbish him but professional managers seem to think the opposite. It interesting how those looking for fault somehow forget his two assists. Iā€™m sure we will move on to moaning about someone else soon enough.

Will be interesting to see whether that gets revisited now.
Indeed. And footballers like everyone else have family, mortgages etc. as well.

One thing to expect youngsters to come and train so we can have a look. For someone like Butcher itā€™s ridiculous (even if we try it on). If we want him then 1 year with an option is the minimum. If he comes training and picks up an injury are we going to pay his mortgage?

He had a glowing report from his manger from last year in the SPL and they offered a new deal that he turned down. Nothing to prove as a player and would have to pass a medical. We either get the cow over the bucket or go get someone better.

If we donā€™t want someone who is a free agent then it probably means an inflated fee or a loanee.

Tick tockā€¦

Irrespective of the injures (which is a hugely significant number), the tiredness and fatigue is there for all to see too. There are many factors for that fatigue that has already been mentioned, but they are factors that are valid and genuine. As a result, our high press cannot be sustained in consecutive games that are so close together.

Pepple was an absolute beast on Saturday, against a better opponent. Yet, yesterday, he was absolutely gone within ten minutes. Husin was exactly the same and Moncur was on the same parallel.

It was exactly the same team that played so well and so attacking on Saturday, so we know they can do it, they just don't have the fitness to. The squad depth (lack of) is killing how we want to play. I've been a huge advocate for being patient and not overspending, but we are getting down to the bare bones (Tilly classic) and something does need to be done in some form. I don't know what that is, because we won't overpay and Maher doesn't particularly like loans. However, this current group can't keep playing game after game with no reprieve though, they need help and they need it soon. Relying on players 'maybe' coming back from injury isn't going to be enough.
