I’ve heard he has been and seen Kev but he has his doubts as he’s not match fit. And wants him to train with the squad but he’s worried if he gets injured he can’t get another club. He really wants to sign for us he’s had offers from other clubs but turned them down.
Butcher might be a good example of the difficulties we presently face in trying to sign half decent players at this stage of the season.

He would not come cheap and would be too expensive to warm our bench. Has a patchy injury record which makes anything more than a one year contract a real risk. If he already has received more than one offer for his services he will be looking more for more security than just a one year deal which at his age and stage of his career seems perfectly reasonable. In his position we would be doing exactly the same.

At his best and injury free he would be an asset but is he in decline and can he stay fit? For us it might cost too much to find out the answers to these questions.

Right now he is probably less than a perfect fit for us but then it could be argued we are just one injury away from looking foolish for not signing him.

I believe Bonne was in the exciting signing category , ok he’s off the pace and not pulled up any trees as of yet but had someone told us he’d be with us at the start of the season I’m sure there would of been excitement around this .
I also think Moncur has been a success and from 2 leagues above so would also fall into the exciting category

The annoying part of this is the league is not as strong as other season and had we have got this right and sorted 6 months ago we would be in a position to challenge , as hard as it is to take I feel this season will be one of frustration and what could of been
I agree with everything you say until last sentence. We will get in playoffs and win at Wembley. Barnet or FGR to win the league , we will beat either of them in playoffs. We need a dominant CB with lots of experience to come in to replace Kensdale. Then we will go on a long unbeaten run. COYB UTB

Mmm the stumbling block was we wanted him in ASAP even though he said he wasn’t match fit at present and needed a couple of weeks , talks had dried up but let’s see now
Someone else has said we wanted him to come into training on trial and he didn't want to in case he got injured and then was stuffed with no income and no chance of getting a contract elsewhere. Seems unlikely we're saying here's a contract join right now and he's saying nah give me a fortnight unpaid to get fitter

And so it came to pass….

I really do expect eith some loanees in before Saturday or permanents what with Taylors injury and Ralphs suspension. Plus players need a rest ,think that showed last night how important it is now to get some more bodies in .
