So I used the very accurate, reliable and definitely not bull**** method of football manager to find our Cardwell/Pepple replacement. Requirements were:

- Good acceleration and pace
- Strong
- Good jumping reach and heading
- At least 6’1”

Filtered out anyone who is unrealistic (for various reasons) and it threw up some interesting names.

Potential permanent signings:

Luke Charman
Joe Quigley
Aaron Jarvis
Andre Godfrinne
Bartosz Cybulski
Levi Amantchi
Callum Kealy
Jordan Greenidge
Jahmari Clarke
Djavan Pedro

Potential loan signings:

Joe Gbode
Micah Mbick
Ben Beresford
Layton Love
Emmanuel Ilesanmi

Andre Godfrinne is 22 and a free agent after leaving Bishops Stortford. In real life he doesn’t look great, but FM seems to really rate him.

Bartosz Cybulski is also 22, 6’5” and playing for Spalding. Again, FM seems to rate him highly.

Not in any way suggesting this counts for anything. Just thought it was interesting to see what FM thinks and to see some different names!

I'm not anti-Maher by any stretch but I don't think it's purely down to the finishing. For example we hear often about the number of crosses we put in compared to other NFL teams, but I'm not convinced many of those crosses are leading to chances.
The number of crosses arriving is ok the problem is that we have very few strikers or midfielders taking the gamble of running into the danger areas anticipating the incoming cross.

Shivas is now messaging Justin; "Hey bro, just been on that Shrimperzone and a user called 'amsemp' has discovered our data driven methodology ".

Stats can be so misleading.

Rre our crosses for eample, one that goes far post when players are near post is obviously a cross but also is a pretty awful cross as is one that clears everyone and goes out for a goal kick or throw in.

A shot that bounces and bobbles four times before eventually reaching the keeper counts as a shot on target.

Points in the table are the only real statistic that counts for anything (certainly when deciding the fate of a manager) - most others are noise to either support or undermine an argument.
Furthermore, a large percentage of our crosses are where the ball has been laid back to the eventual crosser by Gus or Bridge as they haven't got the pace to beat the opposition full/wing back to pull the ball back from the byline.
Crosses from the byline are the ones that more frequently lead to goals.
I'm not convinced that Kev sees it that way. His January/ summer recruitment will be very telling.

I'm watching that game today...not one of our players would get in that Barnet team. Not one.
There must be one LWB in the country who we could sign.
There must be one attacking midfielder in the country who would improve our dog $#!€ midfield.
Apparently not...not one...nope, no one.

He's got 6 months of a 3 year contract left with Blackpool and made 1 appearance in 2 and a half years. Have you seen him play ? because there is no evidence at all he's any better than we have.
Blackpool were in the Championship, now L1, can hardly expect him to displace any of their 1st team, hence calling him a prospect.

These are the kinds of young players who trickle down from higher leagues, the types we should be looking at IMO who clearly have something about their game to attract EFL attention in the first place.
