I think the current situation suggest the precise opposite to desperation… not a criticism, the jury will decide on the results (presumably early Feb). Quality over quantity.

Is that Brentwood striker not another Danny Waldron signing tho? He scored alot of goals lower down and hasn't really got going yet, these type of signings don't usually feel me with a great deal of excitement, surely we need players better than this to get us out of the league?? Nothing against the lad, just not where we should be looking at the moment

Couple of big differences between Waldron and this guy. One is his age. Waldron was almost 28 when he signed which meant he had likely maxed out already, whereas Ogunleye is 23 and not yet at his prime.

Secondly, Ogunleye has a better pedigree having been in the academy setup at Southampton.

Not sure he’s the player to fit what we need though. He’s more in the James Walker mode from what I can recall of him from our game in the Trophy and we need someone who can play the Cardwell/Pepple/Hopper type role otherwise we’re stuck with Bonne playing.

We keep signing players that have scored a lot of goals at other clubs, ignoring the fact that our style of play doesn't create chances for our forwards, then wondering why they aren't scoring here.

My first preference would be that we look again at our style of play and re-visit the 3-5-2 - however I've almost given up on that under this manager so I'd like us to sign an attacking LWB with a left foot to replace Bridge, and a left sided, left footed midfielder who likes to attack. We'd then have a midfield three of this new bloke, Coker, and either Husin, Miley or Morton anchoring. I think if we did that, and we created more chances as a result, we'd find that Bonne, Waldron, Walker and Kendall have a goal in them - we don't need another forward.

I'd also give Wind more minutes - GSM seems to be undroppable but he's had umpteen games where he looks like he needs a rest, and to use KAF more from the bench - when he comes on he offers something a little different, but unfortunately wants the place in our team that Coker has got pretty nailed.

Regrettably the current regime appears to be reluctant or even unable to make the necessary changes to the style of play. Also showing excessive loyalty to past heroes who seem to be undroppable despite significant drop in performance levels. This is why we are where we are. Calls for patience and expessions of blind faith only obscure the reality.

Doomed ! Doomed ! We’re all Doomed !!!

FGR just signed another defender from Woking. Their first team squad is now up to 35 players. Ridiculous, talk about buying the league.

"In September 2015, Vince revealed Forest Green were using a player recruitment method similar to the 'Moneyball' model that had been initially used in baseball to sign players by using computer-generated analysis"

Can't speak for away games, but we have made plenty of chances at home. All of our forward players have missed straightforward chances. More than enough to have won more home games. Even Pebble missed some sitters when he first joined us and Cardwell certainly missed chances before he left. Bonne and Moncur have not taken numerous opportunities. Certainly not the system, but a lack of quality and awareness in the 6 yard box.

He would choose us over any 5 clubs in the race, we would tick all boxes for him and local too.

Why?

Locality could be a factor, but there will many things that a player looks at before joining a club, so we may or may not tick all of those boxes.

Without knowing which other clubs, and what wages/bonuses/signing on fees etc are being offered, we simply don’t know that.

You’d think, if he has EFL interest, that would put that club ahead of us for example.

I think it’s a typo. Should read FGR use the ‘moneybags’ recruitment model.

I'm not anti-Maher by any stretch but I don't think it's purely down to the finishing. For example we hear often about the number of crosses we put in compared to other NFL teams, but I'm not convinced many of those crosses are leading to chances.

Reading some of the comments on here Cricko I think some of our supporters thought we would have a big squad like that with the consortium coming in

Stats can be so misleading.

Rre our crosses for eample, one that goes far post when players are near post is obviously a cross but also is a pretty awful cross as is one that clears everyone and goes out for a goal kick or throw in.

A shot that bounces and bobbles four times before eventually reaching the keeper counts as a shot on target.

Points in the table are the only real statistic that counts for anything (certainly when deciding the fate of a manager) - most others are noise to either support or undermine an argument.

The quality of the crosses is more important. The amount of times they don't beat the first man is incredibly high. Not just open play, but corners as well. Although that has improved when Oli Coker takes them.
