By a country mile his best season. Pretty ordinary prior although young. Ishmian League to NL is a big jump so we should by no means have the imagination of an immediate like for like Bim replacement.

He's playing left of a front three not down the middle. So we would still only have Bonne who is suited to a down the middle target role.

However, if we are supposed to be identifying young talent in lower divisions that you can polish and make money on then if you aren't looking at him you're not serious...

From what I saw of him he just wasn’t quick enough or strong enough.

From what I remember, Bond stuck him out wide. Not where he was playing at Weymouth.

But there is nothing in his past record that would predict what he has done this season

22/23 went to Coggeshall came back to Brentwood then out to Herne Bay where he got 3 in 15
23/24 12 goals for Brentwood (not sure re appearances)

Would the computer have been sending alerts before this season? At that moment if we took a punt on a player like this as he was in 22/23 season we would have had nowhere to give him a game. It was what the b team was going to be for.

How do you know it was a silly wage ? My guess it was within budget and we were in a pretty strong bargaining position, Bonne didn't have a Club. Only a year's contract with a Club option was reported at the time, so probably worth the gamble.

He probably was worth a gamble but it hasn't paid off, are we stuck with him or can we cut our losses, pay him off and use the budget elsewhere ?

This chaps definitely worth a punt, his goal scoring record this year is sensational. Halifax took a risk for Vardy from Stockbridge Steels and look how that paid off.. I’m not saying this lad is the next Vardy but a goal scoring record like that at such a young age clearly screams talent we should be signing for future progression.. just a shame he will be playing under the most lacklustre lack of chance created attacking football seen since Southgate was in management.

Yes this guy is being mentioned all over the place at present, Pete O’Rourke said on X the other day we were interested in him too, he must be getting a Brown envelope from his agent! “ Non-League goalscoring sensation Daniel Ogunleye is a target for a number of EFL and National League clubs this month, including Colchester and Hartlepool. Brentwood Town striker Ogunleye has scored 23 goals so far this season.”
