So what does that have to do with him scoring goals which doesn’t suit our formation?

Someone will always bite if what you’re saying makes no sense.
I think he was meaning that the way we play means that the opportunities he gets at Brentwood won't come up as we don't have that style.

I don't know enough about him to comment on that specifically, but in football that is a thing. It's why Ian Rush scored tons for Chester and Liverpool and hardly any for Juventus, Leeds, Newcastle or Wrexham.

If you want to use us as an example, there have been many strikers who have been prolific elsewhere who seem to lose their radar once they come here. Andy Rammel and Graeme Jones immediately spring to mind.

If we are targeting certain EFL players, it maybe that we have a frustrating wait until the end of the month before we see movement. Not ideal, but we are bottom of the food chain now and have to wait for our turn on consuming the scraps.
Let’s hope we have a plan B as we could end up with nothing and be struggling to fill gaps in the squad

There seems to be a lot of talk about the team just muddling through this season and NOW waiting for the Summer before any real changes happen. I am sure that does not please Kev or the fanbase.

I’d be fuming if this is the case . Only 6 points off play offs , 3 games from Wembley , still a real chance to make something happen this season we would be stupid not to give the footballing department the chance to give it a right go

The question is, if the owners feel our season is over with no chance of promotion or relegation, then why woukd they enlarge the workforce and commit to extra wages for the summer?

What a lovely way to waste fan’s time and money.

If this is the case from the owners perspectives, it’s pretty pathetic and not a good look.

So we are almost half way through January and not a sniff of a player coming in.
Surely we need at least 2 to even be competitively mid table having lost Pepple.

its been quite busy though in the transfer market as teams start to strengthen for the final push, or as is often the case at this time to try to avoid relegation although its mostly loan deals coming and going

23 loan ins so far of which 13 are new and 10 extension. Quite a few loans are up and returning to Home club, so leaders are also looking to loan market to re-fill stock

Only 6 Permanent signings made so far, which may be an indicator of this period and certain difficulties. However the loan market is rife

What worries me is that if feels like we're being reactive to players being injured/leaving. I think most if not nearly all clubs have realistic targets in every position planned if they were needed. I thought that was a standard thing. Maybe we do and just playing it coy? I know for a fact under Tilson and Brush days we did. I know we are going through a transition of strategy but there should still be continuity plans even for short term.

Just so people know a bit more about the new target system, existing alongside traditional scouting methods. It's gone a lot more complicated nowadays.

Tom and Kevin responded to questions about identifying transfer targets explaining that there is now a transfer committee composed of three Board members (Justin Rees, Shivaas Gulati and Jason Brown) plus Kevin and John Still. This is largely data and analytically driven with a profile created to support targets. This is then given over to Jason and the scouts. There are plenty of targets being looked at, with dossiers of 3 or 4 pages – one on information about the individual, then up to three scouting reports, then a final page planned compiling data – and plans are to be able to recruit early for next season. A question was raised about the validity of the Board being involved in making decisions on player targets, whether this detracts from the management team. Tom responded that the new system is to extrapolate information, to identify and support the process and will exist alongside traditional scouting methods. There’s no prohibition on signing players, Tom admitted that they are still finding their way with it, and added that if they only relied on this, Charlie Kendall wouldn’t have been one they would have gone for.
