Whilst I have no doubt you were chuffed that we signed both of them, not everyone was. Some were more circumspect, some heeded Jonny Stokes’ warning on both players. But I’m sure it was also Maher’s fault both players stunk at their previous clubs and fans were so relieved to see them go.
Some ws you say were dubious, however you are not one of them. When we got him you said:
This is a big signing.

For some it’s a big signing as they love the big names.

For COSU it’s a big signing as this will be a substantial wage.

For Maher it’s a big signing as he’s staking a substantial part of his remaining wage budget.

For me it’s a big signing as I think this is likely in time to force a change in how we play as I think we may need to move more away from the press to accommodate him and possibly move from the single pivot to more of a double pivot with Moncur of ahead of them, more of a 3-4-1-2. Interested to hear @ShrimperStats’ views on how he’d fit into our current system.

Or you could argue it’s poor recruitment. Signing a player who doesn’t fit the system. It was almost as if we signed him based on his name/pedigree and assumed he could play in a slightly different role to what he’d played in previously. Unfortunately it didn’t work, but that’s football
Exactly. Regardless of the excuse it's still really poor signing either way which the manager takes responsibility for! He might not have been he's first choice but he still picked him. How many managers get their first choice players all the time unless your at Man City, Real Madrid or Bayern?

Ogunleye is 100% someone we should be taking a punt on. 23 years old and scoring goals for fun just down the road. Won’t be a huge outlay in terms of fee or wage surely. Not sure if his work outside of football earns him a good salary though. Would be very surprised if other teams weren’t looking at him. Depends what the computer says though I guess.

It's the type of signing someone like Barnet would make. Hope we can get him as could have something about him

I guarantee you if we sign this Ogunleye he won’t score more than 10 goals this season. Without sounding brutal I don’t think he is currently or ever will be National League quality.
