The fans were buoyed when the rat deserted the sinking S.S. Blues but, with a new crew at the helm and the promise of calmer waters, we seem to be listing terribly, cast adrift and the water is pouring in through the holes in our hull. It feels like a long way to limp into port. Glug, glug, glug.

Most other clubs seem to be able to complete signings. Why do we seem to make it more difficult?

We already had one of the smallest squads in the league and so far this week we have lost Moncur, Bim, Jeacock and now it is confirmed Crowther is out for some time. The top teams have squads of over 30 players we cant even fill a substitute bench. That is a concern.

Can you name 2 teams in the National League that have squads of 30 plus players?

You're talking to a bloke that captained a team that went undefeated with 11 men and 2 subs all season. That's all we were allowed back when. With no transfer window per se, I'm not overly bothered we are down to 18 men. It's the first choice 11 I get my knickers in a twist about and whilst Pepple wasn't exactly Stan Collymore, we were settling down very nicely with Bim, Kendal and Walker, they even made Bonne look good at times.
What we don't want is knee jerk signings and have to put up with experienced leggy journeymen.
