Transfer News and Gossip Transfer Rumours Thread 2024/2025.

Transfer news
Both have modern facilities and didn’t need approx 200 supporters to give up their own free time to help meet health & safety requirements relatively recently.

I still think some supporters have their heads in the sand as to just how bad things were under the previous owner.
I remember seeing the pictures in the Guardian article, and some of the facilities looked unfit for human use. it was disgusting. COSU have had to clear up so much **** left over from Ron. And all they get is **** for not spending more of their own money. How would everyone on here feel about ticket prices going up 10% so we had a bigger transfer budget? If supporters want to splash the cash, will they put their hands in their own pockets?

Importantly, they also have extremely wealthy owners who are happy to chuck money at it whatever the consequences down the line. Not sure the reliance on one person for a totally unsustainable business model is a method we want to return to
Fair play to them it's there dollar let them invest how they want to. Good for york fans to have bit of happiness after many a year in the doldrums. The only clubs who are sustainable are the ones in the Premier league and that's fact! The rest of us are just chasing a dream to 1 day become the next brentford or bournemouth...... Wrexham currently on that pathway. Would love to know who these sustainable Football clubs are, I bet there's only handful in the EFL.

How can you say that the only clubs who are sustainable are premier league clubs and call that a fact, and then bet there are some in the EFL too? Surely, if there are some in the EFL then they rubbishes your “fact”…

Obviously this is completely off topic so I expect this to be deleted.

To bring it back round to topic, people are saying “leaks are being plugged” etc, and that it’s quiet as no transfer rumours, but for a National League club, how many rumours do you actually see?

We are lucky that we have a few people on here who drop hints, we have London Shrimper on Twitter, so is very well connected and puts names out (although people are quick to knock him if it doesn’t come off straight away) and then Chris Phillips does, mainly when Kev hints at something.

Phil Brown was excellent for a sound bite on transfer bits, whereas Kev keeps it closer to his chest.

It’s a balancing act. People want information now, and want transfers yesterday, however when names are put out, like Justham, people then are calling it a saga and this that and the other.

All depends who you want to believe. PLEASE IGNORE TC9 ON TWITTER.

I’m not posting as much on this anymore. I’ve been told I’m past my sell by date by one poster, who never actually said why. I’ve been told I’m too close and that doesn’t allow me to comment on footballing matters. I don’t actually have an “in” with Kev. I’ve met him three/four times. He played in a charity match I organised, I met him when Southend United did a run on the seafront with the management, I met him at a meet the junior blues day and my Roots Hall Run.

Things are happening behind the scenes. John Still and his army are watching matches 5/6 days a week at all levels and all age groups. Agents are contacting the club daily. Conversations are going forward with some targets, others we are waiting for the “selling club” to bring in a replacement like Woking bringing in Effiong to allow Kendall to move on. That’s all I’ll say.

I suspect for every person who finds fault with what you are doing there are ten or maybe more who are appreciative of your efforts. I, for one, always enjoy reading your posts as they are always well balanced and informative...and back on the topics of transfers....usually it is in the interest of both parties to keep the interest/negotiations confidential for as long as possible but eventually something comes out and human nature being what it is that is when rumours start. Most of our incoming transfers appear on SZ as rumours, but, of course, not all rumours come to fruition.

Regarding the Justham saga as you put it. I think the reason it’s treated like that is because it’s the 3rd time possibly more that we have been close to signing him. There have been names in the past that we have been close to signing and they become a recurring joke, the likes of Matt Lockwood, Ray Parlour, Paul Benson and Ricky Holmes even though we signed him too late.

I think there is a bit of keeping the Justham rumour at arms length as it fell off twice before. I do get the circumstances, embargo he wants guarantees, just cautious of that one.

Whether I think it’s the right move for us I’m not sure. Collin had the most clean sheet in the National League for 2024. Jeacock has looked decent whenever he’s come in, his kicking and having the ball at his feet is better than Collin’s. But it doesn’t hurt to have competition and a very experienced goalkeeper come in and help improve Collin and the team. Difficult one to manage as GK as a position.

Cheers 👍🏻 Most of us are grateful for whatever genuine insights we get, wherever that is from including your good self. 😊

I would just say that life is a lot more enjoyable when we ignore extreme voices (positive or negative) and pay greater attention to the more widely held (and often less forcefully offered) moderate views especially when it’s personal. Not always easy, but defo the way forward IMO.

Thanks BW a good update. Not sure how you can be past your sell by date. I for one am grateful for your input and information

I don’t get the whole Justham thing. He’s a player very much at the end of his career and his current team’s motivation to get rid of him seems to be that he’s on high wages - which surely we don’t want to pick up. If he was to perform a coaching role also, like David Martin did, I could kind of understand it - but we have a goalkeeping coach already. Goalkeepers are probably the easiest position to recruit, and there are a lot of teams higher up who have a decent keeper that they want to get given some match experience. Jeacock is an example, but that hasn’t particularly worked so far. There are plenty of others out there. Hence, I really don’t understand our alleged fixation with Justham.

I assume it will be John Still pushing this one.

Daggers without a permanent manager may have put ins and outs on hold until a new manager takes charge.
Just my take on the situation.
Although this one is allegedly based on a contract clause being triggered and increased wages - the bean counters may well have the say on this so manager may be irrelevant
