Transfer News and Gossip Transfer Rumours Thread 2024/2025.

Transfer news
Don't think waldron has the composure and quick feet, or speed needed at this level compared to NLS. Can't see him being around much longer if an opportunity arises that suits him.
Hearing it's looking quite positive in respect of pepple staying. Clubs happy, so as long as the agent doesn't throw a spanner in the works the loan hopefully can continue. Believe there's a deadline in the next 9 days.
Also sounding like positive conversations are being had about keeping golding for longer, which is handy if crowthers picked up a niggle.
As someone else mentioned in another thread, an interesting potential situation could also be opening up in respect of cards.
An interesting week or two ahead.

Think wood, Moncur and Waldron will be moved on tbh.

I thought part of the reason FGR was also a better destination for cards was that it was closer to home.

I actually think Waldron must be given more opportunity. Kevin Maher has been pretty generous with Macaulay Bonne - who is yet to open his account - but seems reluctant to give more playing time to a player who lost his place through injury.

Don't think so?

I don't know for sure, but heard rumblings he'd bought a place in Brentwood area in the 6-12 months before he left. I'd always thought he was pretty settled here, but ultimately I think he felt he couldn't turn down the wage FGR were offering.

With respect to Bonne, he does make himself known when on the pitch

I can't remember any moment when Waldron has looked that impactful when coming on.

If Bonne can get a goal, I think he practically be a new signing between now and the end of the season

I actually felt a bit for Bonne yesterday, as spent most of it playing up front on his own.

I think he should have just come on for Bim initially.

Anyway, back to transfers, I'm not sure I would want Cardwell back; I would prefer us to move on.

wash your mouth out with soap.

Off all of the ex players that get banded around he is the one that is
1) most recent to leave, but more through FGR making an offer that met the release clause rather than us actually wanting to sell him through necessity.
b) still capable of making an impact, rather than an ex player from several years ago who is on a downward trajectory

Can anyone imagine a front three of Cardwell, Pepple and Kendall

We need a Pepple type to provide him some quality cover and some competition also.

Harry Cardwell would be perfect.

I'm not a Bonne knocker but at least Waldron found the net three times last season. I'd say that's more of an impact than anything Bonne has done yet.

I suppose we are stuck with Bonne until the end of the season. It would be great to be wrong and get the humble pie out, but I just dont see him as firing in regularly once he finally scores one. either this season or next. Should/Could have been a talisman signing upfront with all that tremendous experience, and still only 29, ? Folks wanted experience and whilst accepting not quite same style , I suppose I hoped for a kind of Shaun Goater contribution leadership wise upfront but not showing as likely achieving that status at any point

A track record of NO goals in 21 appearances, close to half a season, ( yes and not all 90 mins I understand that) is atrocious by any standard for a so called striker. Is it a Southend record

It just doesnt seem to have worked out for him here but might suddenly happen elsewhere as we have seen so often. Being seen to run around a bit and occasionally win a header , manage an assist every 10 games and /or do something in defence doesnt get us promoted

A couple more sprightly desperate youngsters in the Pepple or Charlie mode, makes a big difference when Kev pulls the plug on two at once upfront . early for whatever reason, Walker and Bonne wont be knocking them in with regularity as is very clear to see,
Moncur is going we understand , Bonne could join him hopefully for everyone's sake as well, unless he really does start to stand out soon
