Transfer News and Gossip Transfer Rumours Thread 2024/2025.

Transfer news
Our expectations are that we are a big club based on support and history in the EFL (even if a number of other clubs have similarly been in the EFL). Reality is we are probably not so far above mid table on current budget.

January will indicate if this has changed but COSU may take the view that Jan is never a good market, and better accept this year as it is (hoping for the best with a change or two) and focus on a proper summer transfer market and preparation for the first time in years….

As has been said a ‘B’ team was part of building the sustainable model when Kev was recruited (Stan/Brentford et al)- whether the money will ever be forthcoming to make it a reality who knows. But obviously not good for players working their way back from injuries or not getting game time (including the idea of signing under nourished rough diamonds that was once championed)…

But we are close enough to the playoffs that it is achievable- but a number of clubs are closer and are also allowed to recruit… regrettably..

Heard Oldham are recalling Alex Reid from Wealdstone and that FGR are in talks with him. Another striker to add to their ranks

Id like to see bims future resolved first few days of the window giving us ample time too get a replacement in. We cannot afford to have the rug pulled from under us with days to go
You do know our window doesnt shut at the end of January right? It hasnt since we got relegated to this awful league.

Aren't the Uggla family billionaires?
I wonder how many more clubs we will come up against with owners with deeper pockets. There seems to be a lot of it going on. Every year lower league clubs are being snapped up by multi millionaires. We may not have as much money wise in our COSU as perhaps York but who knows

The mother and son Julie and Mathew Uggla, Canadian Business people are reputed to have over £650m between them although Lance UGGLA is divorced from Julia and seemed to be perhaps the ? Main money man, although Julia and Matt have both been highly successful entrepreneurs and Mum famous for her charitable works. They are trying to do what we are, Interesting to know if our Team ever chat much with them about issues ?

FGR are maybe even better off. And so no doubt it will continue, with more wealthy owners coming alo9ng

As stated by others York went for bringing in 24 players this year , their second complete overhaul

Interesting in doing so they have brought in so far 12 loanees and 10 Free Transfers in addition, Is that really a big money spend or was it on the 3 others presumed bought and unannounced fees?

They will have 6 of those loan arrangements about to end however. Also interesting is that they loaned players in from other National league clubs and even lower league clubs which is a reversal of the norm?

It seems unless you have tons of money Teams invest heavily in the Loan approach to get them up, and once up they can dispense with that strategy if needs be.

Sutton went up for the first time in their history , not with a fortune necessarily spent but very wide use of the loan market. Thats also what Gateshead are doing through utilising 10 loanees at various times
