Transfer News and Gossip Transfer Rumours Thread 2024/2025.

Transfer news
Those closer to things and ITK have however highlighted the standard of players we had indeed identified and would have brought in? The recruitment was effective up until the point we could actually sign anyone due to the fruit drink? This has been explained many times- are you not believing what you are being told? Do you think they are making it up? Just one example being terms agreed with Ollie Pearce?

We just go around in circles and will continue to do so because we just create alternative facts as needed?

I will judge the recruitment team on who we bring in in terms of Kendall plus signing to the end of January. And, of course in the summer even more so.
Whilst I agree that the players we should have signed would have made us a better side, letting Powell and Wes has made us a worse side.

Those players left because we should have signed better players to replace them. At a time when we couldn't sign players.

Tbh. I'm not sure I trust the current management team to bring in the right players or use them effectively.

This season was written off months ago..

The fact 13 players last season are head and shoulders above the current larger squad tells its own story.
Totally agree. KM does not seem to now get the best out of players. When a change in formation is required or you need to press after going behind KM never changes formation he just switches like for like. We get slaughtered time after time with diagonal balls down the flanks yet he persists with 3 at the back. We’re behind at York so he swaps a defender with a defender. What does it say about Kendall when he refuses to start him, he’s played all year so has to be match fit. It just says to the lad you’re no better than what we’ve already got. Sorry but at this moment in time with his stubbornness we’re going nowhere. Defensive and hate to say it boring football. No leaders on the pitch and centre half’s that would struggle in the Essex Senior League

As we are seeing 3rd 4th or 5th choice targets clearly arent good enough and have taken the squad backwards.... hopefully thats a lesson cosu and kev have learnt.

You don’t know how big a hit the first eight choices in each position would have been- only how good the best of the leftovers were post fruit drink….regrettably….
History, it didn`t happen, move on. Now in a position to correct it, move forward and start to look forward. Those excuses are wearing thin now? What happens if he signs x amount of players and things don`t improve? Who is he going to blame then?

To an extent but the fruit drink was an “external” event that hopefully we will not see again. The lesson is avoid fruit drinks. Something I wholeheartedly endorse…

Just because we have a top 6 squad, doesn't mean there will be interest in all our players. I mean, have you seen the dress throughout this league!!

Besides, no-one is going to be interested in players that are currently massively underperforming.
With respect, you could be wrong there. Good managers will always be looking out for talented players underperforming because they are being played out of position or being constrained by a system that does not suit them. Some of Southend's best signings have been players that struggled at their previous clubs.

In my mind let Gus go in the Jan transfer window. We have a capable replacement in Wind and monies secured will enable us to rebuild the squad… what do I know tho.. 🤣
I agree about letting him go. As much as i like his character and work rate at times, his defending can be poor, his crossing isn't great and his goal scoring purple patch seems to be over. Not sure we'd be able to fund a squad rebuild on his transfer fee though. Was that tongue in cheek?

Those that think we have a top six squad need to visit Specsavers and then check the National League Table and take a close look at Goals Scored & Games Won
AC Milan in 1993/94 won the league with 36 goals scored and 15 conceded in 34 matches.

United scored 68 in their 2008/2009 League winning season.

Leicester scored 68 in their 2015/2016 League winning season.
