Agree that we defo need a plan B and C. But it’s been refreshing since Maher came in to have a manager that sticks with a system no matter the opposition and/or recent form.

We’re such a well drilled side now that it must make it easier for new players to come in and hit the ground running.

I thought the Ipswich keeper and Daniel Kanu up front both did well on Saturday.

Which is exactly what @StanCollymore laid out in his initial vision. Get a manager that has a style of play/formation and then doesnt make it such an overhaul when mainly changing managers, because this style is our identity now (so we'd get a manager in that plays this way and dont need to sign 15 new players) - but also makes it very simple to sign players to fit specific positions.

I remember last summer, Brentford signed a player and they spoke about him as a "position" rather than much about him personally. Like "we have been looking for a number 8 that can tackle, can get around the pitch and has a range of passing"

So very clearly buying a player to fill a specific job, rather than a "name". Really like that.

I will remember what you said here the next time you choose to comment negatively on Dan Bentley, Jack Payne, Adam Barrett, John White or Nathan Bishop, to name but 5.
Players that have been overrated on Shrimperzone—never scapegoated—big difference !

Blimey - he must be ancient! He was a great player in his day though. I remember a match against Swansea at the Hall where he was (IMO) by far the best player on the pitch
Yes, that day he was unplayable. Alongside was a certain heavyweight player who was equally dangerous and never failed to score against us whichever club he played for. Swans won that match but we had a measure of revenge when gaining promotion at their place with a Freddie double.

Its what Man City or Arsenal do. Buy a player to fit the role they want. For example Tierney at Arsenal is top drawer Left Back but doesnt fit the system sadly so they went for Zinchenko and loaned Tierney out

seems to me its what Ange is doing at Spurs ,getting in players who fit the system he wants to play, at present they doing very well too .Kev and co have im sure shown you all the system he wants SUFC to play and now its up to JS, SVC to identify players who will fit this system and not cost the club the earth .Also they have to be of good character and able to fit in with the other players, we are a family players and all .

It'll be interesting to see what happens with Jacob Bland, Jaden Crowhurst and the others to see if they come back now. Wouldn't be surprised if we were still in contact with Tommy Davis, Jon Benton and Lewis Gard

Jon Benton is too good to be playing NLN level.

Seen him several times this year for Aveley and he is a class above anyone else on the pitch

Therefore for me - recruitment is depth - a left winger who can track back as cover for bridge, a back up forward for cardwell (unless kanu is that with different skills), a proper right winger who can also track back, a center mid who can be back up to husin/Miley, maybe an attacking mid (if an improvement on coker/mooney/wood/fonguck) - probably the one position we have options and depth, a fit lomas as back up to kensdale, a back up to Ralph - left sided full back/ mobile centre back and a full time keeper to challenge Colin.
but other than those we're good, right?

Can't see us changing this formation.

No amount of player will make the 343 work. I think formation plays more of a role in the players and their strengths who play. Especially as you point out there is no single formation as it's based on transition phases.

I like the current formation and therefore the players picked as it's more attacking and still strong defensively.

I'd personally like to see a more attacking person like bridge on the right to balance.

I know Gus is great but I think he'd also make a good Taylor competitor at the back - making it a 3241 formation.

Therefore Less wing back more wingers (like bridge - he's never a wing back) and using the wide defenders as full backs (why Ralph and Taylor have been successful) and the 2 mids (Miley husin) to protect centrally. This also enables the strong box in midfield with 2 attacking mids like coker and a Mooney moving forward to support the striker as a 3.

It's how many city seem to be setting up these days.

Where are you going to get the cash to fund this spending spree then?

We’d get murdered if we did that IMO. Good teams have a good balance between attacking and defensive strength. Opposition sides already target our left side as they know Bridge is better going forward than facing his own goal.

If we had that problem on both sides we’d be far too open. Tilson, Sturrock and Phil Brown used to regularly play a defensive winger in a 4-4-2 for the same reason.

Tilson used it because Gower didnt track back.

When ress takes over i wonder he can help kevin along Trying to obtain a fellow countryman players from spurs There are plenty of fringe players who could come out on loan .Not like another chirman who kept interfearing with the day to day running of the team .And didnt kevin play for spurs .Or am i getting confused with another manager .

Aren’t you contradicting yourself here? On the one hand you are suggesting he can get in touch with Ange at Spurs, and on the other hand knocking RM for interfering?

However, there is a lad from Spurs on the whiteboard funnily enough.
