Transfer Embargo, Winding Up Petition & Staff Salary Issues

It's all very frustrating,we have an adjournment which could suggest we are soon to be able pay the bill.RM says that he would be in a position to pay once the monies are available but we haven't.

In the meantime employers are waiting for their salaries to be paid.
I sincerely hope that Tom is keeping his staff fully appriased of the situation.

As a long suffering supporter I would like answers but as always under RM chairmanship he plays his cards close to his chess and says very little so dont expect any answers anytime soon.

So in the meantime I will enjoy what Kev and the boys are currently serving up on the pitch

Exactly why I think he wasn't purely here to asset strip. He wanted it all. The knight in shining armour and a tidy profit at the end of it.
Sadly, the armour is more than a little tarnished now and seems that the villain that was Vic, wasn't so bad after all. I recall Ron lambasting his predessor for not running the club efficently and running up large debts. Seems quite ironic now.
Looking back at our chairmen of the past, we are never going to get the fairy tail, so I expect the next one will be much the same sadly.
Iv always thought vic jobson did ok job at Southend, sure he run the club into the ground in his later years but his ownership wasn't that bad. Championship football with some half decent footballers at Southend..... we would all kill for that now. Today southend sit in the National league struggling to pay the tea lady.

If that was true Ron wouldn't be giving us a competitive playing budget, half the reason we're in this mess is because we overspent on wages to try and chase promotion and it didn't work, that's the opposite of what an asset stripper would do.

It's probably easier in some fans' minds to imagine Ron as a mustache twirling villain because it implies that if he went we'd become financially stable overnight but it's much more likely that he's just **** at financial management and he was too stubborn to admit it for too long. Because of that we've got to the point that the figures don't add up now even with capable people like TL in charge.
Granted, and don't get me wrong, his ego would love to have a prem league team, hence all the ridiculous Sol Campbell and Henrik Larsson fawning and Rick Parry name dropping. However I think you miss my point, given the choice, his priority is turning an absolute monster profit from what was formerly the club's land. That's the primary reason he bought the club. He never bought it to develop a sustainable football club, he bought it to make profits from non-footballing assets/revenue. It's that short sightedness and greed that has got us here.
He's definitely tried to spin both plates many times, but as I say they are a contradiction and when it comes to the crunch, the club and football are not his motivating factor.

If you, I, or any other fan with the club's longevity and long term sustainability at heart ran the club, demolishing Roots Hall, first for a super-market, and now for flats and more houses on other land wouldn't be the driving force for us.

You can always rely on Ron to f*** everything up for us when things start to go in the right direction.

The fact that staff are STILL not being paid on time just sums him up. These people have families, children, babies to feed, homes to be able to afford, as well as everything else.

Ron Martin. You are a disgusting man, and you should be ashamed of yourself you ****.
Ain’t football fun aha. Money money money and sports and after thought

How long until the NL hit us with a points deduction for gaining an unfair advantage over our opponents?

They won't take kindly to staff going unpaid yet again.
I’d love to know if he pays the football department every month.

Just my view on our beloved Ron.
I would like him gone today and a new owner installed.
But realistically he ain’t going anywhere until he has hit the jackpot. We and the club are a necessary tool to attain his ambitions.
He is a complete pain in the arse, but it is what it is I’m afraid.
I’m sure his ‘pay day loan’ will come through soon to pay the tax bill.
Having said that it doesn’t stop the stink from the cesspit get stronger. And however much we hate it with Ron, think we will have to suck it up for some time yet.

Yes ron is a pain in the arse .And yes we are stuck with him untill his pot of gold comes his way .Then if he keeps his promise and steps down from the chairmans seat .But ask your self who is going to take over .Anything like the rubins we could end up with Rons son .Is that a good thing Somehow i think not .

It's an interesting question... how many seriously interested investors are there out there at the moment, even if Ron was willing to sell.

Hypothetically, if you won 165mil on the Euromilions today:

A. Would you pay 80 mill for the club if that's the price he set?

B. What would you pay?

You make it seem a binary question when, what is there for sale?
Roots Hall? Other nearby Ron purchased properties? Building rights and plans etc?
Players, staff, club football contracts?
Naming and merchandise rights?
Boots and Laces?
Dome?
FF plans, land, rights etc?
New trading ground?
Other assets?
Debts?
Yes if I won that much I would buy.

Hey Everyone.

Last week, Ron, Tom, Kev, Darren, Benno, John and I met at Roots Hall.

A 2 hour meeting to go through several agenda items on and off the pitch that affect or could affect the Football Department.

Ron, as ultimate owner of Southend United set out the position on all of the raised issues, and specific questions we ( everyone freely asked questions in a cordial but business like atmosphere) all had regarding staff, morale and potential solutions.

My commitment to transparency, integrity and honesty is clear, unambiguous and I'm sure would be confirmed by the Shrimpers Trust, staff and Football Department. However it is not in my remit, nor ever was and certainly wasn't suggested ( in my zoom calls with you guys), that I would be the conduit to give Southend United privileged business information. That is the job of the CEO via the owner, and is normal business practice.

The same people who are critical of me on this forum for "being quiet", are exactly the same people who criticised when I gave them "too much running commentary". But my transparency and honesty specifically related to what the Football Department do, act upon and execute, along with commercial, media and Supporter initiatives. Why haven't you seen me pop up in meetings or video clips? Because the Football Department is doing rather than talking, and that Football Department is not only a resounding success in one year, but a resounding success despite of the situation the club has found itself in.

My role nor remit at Southend United involves privileged financial information.

You should be incredibly proud of the way that the Football Department and general staff conduct themselves, bthe Football Department in particular is fully functional, respected ( kind words last night from Luke Williams towards our Football Department in the manager's room post match ) and can discharge everything that we need to discharge when the light turns green.

Ron owns the club and there are ongoing issues, this is known and the staff at the club every day along with the Football Department are a credit to our club. Without these people, my genuine opinion is that the club would be in National League South which compounded by long term issues would be a very difficult place to come back from. Our position on the pitch now gives us a fighters chance on and off the pitch to get things right and on your behalf that is constantly messaged to those who make decisions.

Until we are fully staffed, until long standing issues are resolved , which we all hope will be very soon, then none of us will be truly happy, none of us.

But sledging anyone working their absolute tails off for our club is not ok, not cool and uncalled for.

The club, your club has very clever and long in the tooth football adults in the building, and what you've seen on the pitch can't happen without the support the Football Department and general staff give each other.

We all need your support, and trust me we are supporting you in ways that I know you all would be very proud of.

Keep calm, trust the Football Department, General Staff and Tom.

Pre match - they don't need all 4 of the lights on at 5.30 for a 7.45 kick off, warm downs again don't need all the lights. Remedial pitch work next day in the light. Someone did point out that these times may be for the TV crews which is a good point that I had not considered doh!

I was also told that we get an extra £6k for being televised on top of the annual amount. Well we clearly lost that as a combination of Notts supporters watching from home and a large electricity bill !!

Anyway, it was a great match and a great atmosphere.

Can you just begin to imagine what the support and atmosphere would be like with a competent owner?
Indeed, that would explain the 11:30 bit yesterday. Just like the set up of an OB the strike out doesn't happen by magic and once the after match interviews have all finished they've done pretty well to be done by 11:30...

Thanks Stan.

Open, honest and on point as ever.

Aware there are some brilliant hard working individuals inside the club, including Tom heading that list.

Very proud of the team and off the pitch and I'm sure it'll work out long term.

Patience is a difficult thing when the owner continually changes the goal posts but thats where we sadly are. Kev, Darren, Benno and the boys though certainly have our full support, as reflected in attendances home and away.

Thanks for coming on though and clarifying what you have, which even how little it may be outside your remit, is appreciated.

Legend you are as always, Stan. Thank you for this heartening statement. Your efforts and those of the whole footballing dept are clear for all to see. We have a football team we can be proud of again - the old excitement is back on match day. UTB!
