Transfer Embargo, Winding Up Petition & Staff Salary Issues

Boycotting leads to financial strangulation of the club and even more cash flow issues for the club, I struggle to see how this helps anything.

As well as this, some people just want to watch football, you can't blame them for that.

It doesn't help the club financially, but neither it seems does attending games and spending money. Wages still dont get paid, HMRC still dont get paid. If the club is already going down as it seems it is then why not try something that could actually shock RM into some sort of action and realise peoples patients with him has well and truly expired.

Nothing else has worked.

"They" are not being told anything. Today I could have sat back, not put my own position at rush by offering an opinion and let others, more senior to me, take the flak.

Protesting a la Chesterfield is a zero sum game. Players don't want that negativity, neither do coaches. If it became a regular occurrence, players and potentially coaches could go elsewhere leaving the club in a negative position on the pitch.

Then there's the inevitable "revolutionaries " versus "passive supporters " dynamic, causing major splits in a supporter base which inevitably leads to large chunks not going to games that are toxic rather than a United front.

Then there's staff. Depleted due to people going elsewhere, under stress already without taking any financial issues into consideration, with done mentally and physically at their end point. Do you think they deserve even more days of this that bleeds into matchdays? Another net loss.

And finally the big dogs inside the club. Some thing they're all sitting on chaises longues eating Gracie's while the owner gives us orders. Nothing could be further from the truth. These people will walk as they are coveted elsewhere. Another net loss.

Ultimately there's a fine balance between all out war, passivity and inertia. You're talking to someone who knows what they are doing alongside others treading that fine line.

Or go on the pitch, protest and see young players, and a young staff have to play against their own as well as the opposition. See how that plays out.

Ignore me at your leisure, protest at your leisure. But I'm giving best advice in the imperfect circumstances were in.
Just to be clear stan none of the groups sos/trust etc…. Have called for any protests so I don’t think that’s the worry, but we as groups need to get together no asap and plan the way forward as I’m sorry but we can’t accept this man as our owner and our club being the laughing stock of English football because that’s what we are mate

Nothing will 'shock' Ron into action, he is the most stagnant, stubborn person/owner ever, he's already proven that multiple times.

That might explain the perhaps inadvisable use of the term “financial dishonesty” …
An allegation I would have advised them to think rather carefully about.
Anyway we don’t know the details and let’s see what transpires.
I like the idea they seem to think they'll get their money back. Gave me a good laugh, that one. Take a number, lads.

With people like that it could take a boycott and seeing his dreams fall before him to make him give it all up. By carrying on as normal its just feeding his idea that one day he will get his pot of gold.
Of course people want to go and watch their team, we all do which is why we are on this site right now, but our club has no future with Ron at the helm, the quicker people realise that the better.

Southend Council have a lot to answer for in all of this also, they should be taking action to protect their city's club. Not constantly approving rons planning changes which constantly move away from the club being self sufficient.

I understand that view and I am not saying a boycott shouldn't be on the table, but a boycott will lose Ron at worst a few tens of thousands between now and when he collects his eight-figure windfall in a few months' time. I don't think it's going to sway him.

Not for the first time I'm going to lay myself open to accusations of not being revolutionary enough by not planning to murder Ron Martin in his bed, but a boycott would be difficult to enforce right now. The pandemic caused countless mental health issues, the financial situation in the country is making it worse and football is an escape from reality for a lot of people. Southend United have piled on the misery in recent years, and now we actually have a team and management that we can be proud of. I'm not up for boycotting it, it's keeping me and a lot of people going right now.

With Oyston, a boycott (eventually) worked because he was taking money out of the club, and so boycotting limited the money he could pocket. Ron is putting money in (although not enough clearly) so I'm not sure it's the right call.

But as I said, that's just my opinion and we shouldn't rule anything out, particularly if we're going to be in a negotiating position.

People have already realised that, probably about 90% + have realised, but I'll reiterate, I think we're ultimately powerless no matter what.

If as i’m lead to believe our shirt sponsors are involved in the groundwork at the training ground, should they need to fill in any deep excavations can I make a suggestion of something to go in the hole
No they are nothing to do with it

This is a discussion forum. We're discussing what to do next. I'm not sure the Shrimperzone domain name is going to leap from its data centres and fire crossbow bolts down Benfleet Road.
Discussion with no end. We have seen this countless times yet you continue to justify it?

It’s the fact the people with bills, those at the very bottom, are being treated the worst. It’s shameful.

While plenty of what you said is true I'm going to have to strongly disagree with you on our fanbase comment. We could amd should of done a lot more to hit Ron hard years ago.

As for suggesting I'm making a lazy assumption and don't understand. Considering you have no idea of the level of detail I know I could throw that one right back at you but I'm not here to attack individuals of I know nothing of.
My apologies, the lazy assumption comment was aimed at people from other clubs, not you. I am not doubting your info.

Not with you, what have I justified? My issue was the 'empty words from empty people on this site' which appeared like an attack on your fellow supporters, unless you include yourself in it.

All of these words, including mine, are empty until we come to some conclusion on what action to take. My point is: that conclusion will never arise with this discussion and debate which has an applicable deadline of “3 points”.

Fair enough. Tensions are running high. It feels like groundhog day but also with the sponsor's actions it feels like a line has been crossed as well. Let's see what transpires.

He is involved in plenty of other companies outside of SUFC. If you stretched out further and informed customers/partners that this company Director has extremely poor ethical values you'd be suprised how big of an impact that would have!

Stan you have a huge amount of credibility banked. If you say that you have assurances that the situation is in hand and the Club is going to get through this then that's enough for me.
