Are the training pitches and changing rooms still ongoing or has construction been suspended?
Which means he'll never sellI don’t think ff will ever be completed.
PG Site Services are not involved in the pitches. Are the training pitches and changing rooms still ongoing or has construction been suspended?
It’s on their Facebook page mateThat looks like it just quotes the tweet we read, but I agree this is very worrying. Chris has form for quoting SZ or Twitter erroneously so it might be a bit soon to say it’s legit, but it’s looking very bad indeed. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s true, but then again lord knows where that would leave Tom Lawrence.
I’m looking at the PG Site Services @pgsiteservices Twitter feed and there is no sign of this Tweet there. That’s all I’m saying but I might be missing something?
One of many. Here comes the Statutory Demand followed by a winding up petition…..
That makes no sense because if it was never going to be completed the first thing he would do is sell and cut lossesWhich means he'll never sell
Which means he'll never sell
I'm not sure what is more frustrating about stories like this. Having to explain the unique complex relationship we have with Ron Martin to fans of other clubs, or having to deal with the people who criticise you after you've explained it for "sticking up for Ron".Come on Scott. You know it's not like our fans to take any ownership of a problem!
What other clubs would allow this to happen?
I had a chat with an owner of a football league club a few years ago way before things got as bad as they are now and he said that clubs fans would of burnt his house down if he'd of done half of what Ron's done to us.
Yeah, I know that, I was thinking more along the lines of forthcoming payments and such like.PG Site Services are not involved in the pitches.
Why would you say that? Classic on here- you will post the question, numerous people will excitedly leap on it as fact. And another fiction lives a life of a hundred posts…Are the training pitches and changing rooms still ongoing or has construction been suspended?
My only guess is he is in debt upto his eyeballs and if the stadium and this deal doesn’t come through he is ruined. Along with his big house and fancy car!
Can’t see any other reason for him putting the club and himself through all this! It’s make or break for him.
TL:DR?I'm not sure what is more frustrating about stories like this. Having to explain the unique complex relationship we have with Ron Martin to fans of other clubs, or having to deal with the people who criticise you after you've explained it for "sticking up for Ron".
I hate Ron with a passion and want him gone last week, but the 'fans/officials of other clubs think you lot are soft' line is absurd. Ron was chairman for arguably the second most successful period of our history. There is little dispute that Roots Hall is fit for purpose and Ron's intentions to build a new stadium are valid, even if my 5 year old son could have done it quicker. If you were to really stretch the goodwill, you could acknowledge he listened to Stan last year and finally appointed a CEO and the football side is not blossoming.
There have been plenty of protests, but the fundamental difference between Ron and the Becchetti's and Oystons of this world is that Ron has always put money into the club and backed managers. Until things went south in 2008, his reputation in the game was actually pretty solid, I am sure he was a representative on the Football League board for a bit. The issue with Ron is he refuses to let go. He's the injured mountain climber halfway up Everest, clinging onto the leg of his healthy mate and guaranteeing mutually assured destruction.
Do we have Stockholm Syndrome? Ron's not even our worst ever owner, I don't think Southend United has ever in living memory had a decent owner. It is an AWFUL analogy but I can't put it better than being in a toxic relationship where we don't know anything else and can't leave anyway.
Orient fans fought so hard against Becchetti because it was black and white. He was a car crash from day one that clearly had no interest in running the club properly. Oyston was pocketing money from Blackpool for his own gains. Ron is actually putting money into the club every month, the issue with Ron is that it's clear now he no longer has the means to do this but he won't sell.
Please do not take this as a defence of Ron. This club will never progress while Ron is at the helm. He needs to be gone, and be gone yesterday. But I hate the stuff about how this fan base has let him get away with murder. At best it's a lazy assumption by people who don't understand the club and its history, at worst it's a direct slur on a fantastic fan base.
The football club is not paying for the FF development.Yeah, I know that, I was thinking more along the lines of forthcoming payments and such like.
I think we have let this go to far though mateI'm not sure what is more frustrating about stories like this. Yep, I hardly think they'll be queuing round the block. Absolute joke.A shame last year's sponsor was treated so badly. Think we might struggle for a decent sponsorship deal.
I'm old enough to remember the Rubin brothers. Think I'd take them over RM at the moment.I'm not sure what is more frustrating about stories like this. I don't know that feels tenuous. Unpaid staff and transfer embargoes are BAU for this club and sadly we're many years past the point where its even newsworthy outside of fans of the club let alone toxic to the reputation of other firms who do business with us.Likely the agreement from both sides is that neither will bring disrepute on the other. We have obviously voided this with our financial state and our inability to meet tax liabilities, therefore bringing negative press on a company they are associated with.
Shambles.
I disagree with that, i do actually feel like this isnt just about money for him, more his lifes work and legacy. Which imo makes him even more unlikely to ever sell untill whatever ff is becomes reality. Sadly instead of it being a noble venture it has become a pigheaded obsession. My only guess is he is in debt upto his eyeballs and if the stadium and this deal doesn’t come through he is ruined.
