Shhh not allowed to knock the Echo on this site
Knocking the paper and inciting a campaign for people to boycott are not exactly the same thing.
TBF i think the echo is what it is, its a local paper than does what all other papers do in that it tries to sell as many as possible.
Maybe a boycott of twitter is whats needed here rather than trying tarnish a local business over the actions of one reporters actions.

Its not a local business, its American owned
Its a local business in that if it went out of business the local community would be affected
Really, how so?
What is annoynig in this case is that the other guy posted big news story tomorrow, which in fairness this is, but he also tweeted that CP will be sending blues fans to bed happy.

Im normally fine with the Echo, I have a lot of respect for Chris Phillips.

Unless theres something else thats totally misleading and I wasted 45p on something I already new. Still Ill read the rest of the paper later in an attempt to get my moneys worth, Im sure theres plenty about sheds being broken into that Ill be interested in.
Well the readers. The stories that would go unheard. The coverage of blues and many other sports. The charity work for the local community that gets a mouth via the paper. Advertising for local businesses to function. The list goes on.
well said. For people concerned about the clubs financial plight then this IS good news, so maybe that's what he meant.
It's difficult to actually determine what would be classed as good news to a Southend fan to be honest. Any decent and established player will command a fee and high wages which we can't afford; the players generally within our reach and budget are GENERALLY not the players that are going to propel us up the league and of course we all know we're only really happy when Southend win. It's a bit of a catch 22.
I've said it before I know, but as fans we seriously have no idea at all what goes on. The running of the club really is none of our business (despite massive protestations to the contrary) as the time when football was run for the fans is long, long gone. I have seen various threads recently about non payment of wages again (yawn) but so what? Plenty of firms can't afford to pay their staff on occasion. It's called business. As for Sturrock, I notice TB has heard he allegedly may not have been paid but for all we know (if true) that may well be with his consent. When he first arrived I seem to recall that he himself stated (probably via cluniemore) that he had worked without wages for a period but that wasn't an issue for him at that time.
This is where Sturrock is a real gem and is so underestimated and undervalued by so many. He isn't here for the money and has a 5 year plan to stabilise the club and get us where we should be. He has bought in some terrific talent and has frankly worked miracles given the constraints he has had. His network must be enormous and players clearly have incredible respect for the man.
As for our star players, I think we would all agree that the only players worth money are Hall, Mohsni and Ferdinand. Neither of the first 2 want to be here and Kane would be better in a higher league where his talent will shine and develop. He is anonymous too often in this league.
So, let's cash in please and still have a club to support.
As for incoming players, whoever they may be, I hope PS works his magic again. I'll actually be happy if we've never heard of them as then there will be no expectations. Our most successful signings ever have been in that category; Stan Collymore and Freddy Eastwood.
Bring on the day. Let's get this stuff sorted and celebrate by thumping Wycombe tomorrow.
I would of thought the amount of lost jobs would be paramount here but I am going off topic :(
