Things you've always wanted to know an answer to...

Apart for the benefit of the deaf I have always wondered why farts smell.

Which kind of links in with what I asked earlier but has gone unanswered Harry

What I'd like to know is this, is the amount of gas an individual produces (at either end!) directly proportionate to the amount of carbonated liquid consumed - or is it just coincidence that the more carbonated drinks you have the more gas you seem to produce?

Not me, I hasten to add, can't stand the stuff!

The Police get free travel on British Rail. Why?

Because a Policeman is obliged to uphold the law, regardless of whether he is on duty, so British Rail or whatever they are called these days, offer free travel to the Old Bill therefore getting their trains Policed for free.

I never knew that! I'll have to do some research to see if that's the case.

Ok I didn't know that :) but say serial killers, 25 y/o English killer gets about 25-30 years whereas an American killer would get whoever many life sentences.

British serial killers are a tiny minority - Sutcliffe, Hindley, Brady, Shipman, West(s)... if they aren't already dead, they'll certainly never be let out.

What I can see from Police forums is that the Met can travel 50 miles outside of London without a ticket, but outside of that they need to buy one like the rest of us.

Does that mean you dont believe me?

I was talking to a Copper in the pub on Sunday. He also told me a lot of other interesting things about the Police – for example how his application was initially turned down because he was white, and also how the Police would do things differently if they were not dictated to by the Home Office – the Luton Muslim protestors when the British Soldiers marched by would have had a totally different reaction.

Sounds like this bloke is really trying to build bridges with the community.

No I think he means community in the same way the BBC does when interviewing 'community leaders' who always seem to be raghead loudmouths.

Put it this way:

Was he wearing sunglasses and did he have a 'stroke of luck' and drive off in a brand new Ford Tippex?
