The Wimbledon Thread

Murray breaks back to make it 3-3 in the 2nd.

Edit - And breaks again to make it 5-3. He's making Ferrero look like an old man....

he's still a complete c unit though :punch:

GET OVER IT!

:p

OK, so he said some daft things as a kid. Show me a kid who hasn't said something a bit daft.

Personally, I think he has grown into himself fantastically well and looks like the first Brit for about 70 years actually capable of winning a Slam. I find it utterly bizarre that people prefer not to celebrate that, but instead wallow in their own fit of pique about some stupid things he may have said in jest when he was 19.

Move on, please, for heaven's sake!

Blimey that caused a bit of a stir didn't it ??

I don't like Murray .. big ****ing deal

I just like to back a Brit, that's all.

Anyhoo, back to the tennis... so the semis are Federer vs. Haas, and Murray vs. Roddick or Hewitt.

A-Rod is 1 set up, and it's currently 5-5 in the second set.

Let's hope for a 5 set thriller here, but on current form I can't see either bothering Murray.

And there's nothing wrong with that of course, however nationality shouldn't come into it ... liking Murray BECAUSE he's British is a lame excuse to my mind

Liking him because he is obviously a very talented tennis player is acceptable though ;)

Am I the only one who's starting to think that maybe Murray isn't sounding quite so Scottish in his interviews any more?

I also hope for a five setter in the semis. That way he can demolish Fed in 3 like he did today.

probably because he's just bought a house in Surrey!

Has anyone seen Murray say "thanks" to the people that pass him towels or bring him drinks?

Great tennis player but sadly, a total ****.

No but most of the players don't. They normally say please and thank you when they're sitting down during the changeover but during the rallies they're not going to do it after every point.

I'm fed up of people moaning about Murray. We moan about how rubbish Britain is at tennis then when we get a top class player capable of winning a grand slam we moan about him being a bit grumpy. I don't care if he's grumpy. He's passionate, focused, sensible, down to earth and, most of all, he's a winner unlike all the other British failures at Wimbledon. I think he's a good role model. I think some people still don't like him because of that comment about England at the last World Cup, which is quite immature really. Incidentally, he was excellent today, destroyed Ferrero and I'd fancy him against either Roddick or Hewitt. He shouldn't have moaned about the roof though, if it hadn't been for the roof he would've been playing yesterday. Federer looked in top form too and I can't see him not winning it.

Another point to make about this year's tournament, I think the new roof looked great on Monday night. As one of the commentators said yesterday, everything that's done at the All England Club is done with style. It looked great lit-up from the outside and hasn't ruined the appearance of Centre Court at all.
