Doing something right for once!

All the bookmakers get a superfast feed from the rights holders as we need to be sure that we're seeing it as quick or quicker than our punters.

Many is the time we've had our pants pulled down by punters who have a quicker tv feed. Example - we see a flurry of bets on Valencia to score the next goal and then ten seconds later Valencia are awarded a penalty.

We're ahead of the game now though. In Paddy Power's case, maybe too much so as their live scores update quicker than the pictures on their website; takes a bit of the excitement out of it really.

Off topic, but in all seriousness, I wonder how live, live TV really is?

You're looking at a latency of anywhere between five and 60 seconds.

Spanish football on Sky for example - that can be as much as half a minute out. Racing on ATR or RacingUK is about 15 seconds out, but on C4 or the Beeb it's more like five seconds.

I really do lead an interesting life.

I was on the phone to my Dad during the Notts-Yorkshire T20 game on Monday night. He was at the ground, being in Nottingham for work, and the events there were 7 seconds ahead of my TV.

Done. I'm liking Wimbledon. I place bets at crap odds, like 1/50 and place £50 quid on it, so yes, I only make a nugget, but I did it just now with Leyton Hewitt 2 sets up and about 2 games from victory. Then a quick double on Ivanovic and the person playing Baltacha. £54 on that, £59 return. £6 profit in about 6 minutes.
