The Wimbledon Thread

Tony Gubba, what a tool, ambushing Murray like that- the geezer was knackered and probably wanted to just go for a slash.

Great match. The guy's a fantastic grinder. Needs to sort of his second serve if he's to have a hope of beating Federer, though.

Has anyone seen Murray say "thanks" to the people that pass him towels or bring him drinks?

Great tennis player but sadly, a total ****.

He will have to play damn site better to beat Juan Carlos Ferreroto get in to the Semi final, let alone Federer!!

I disagree. Warwinka and Murray are good mates are often practice together, therefore they both knew each others game.

If anything the emotional 5 sets will give Murray a boost and I can see neither Ferrero (who's a clay court specialist) or (probably) Roddick causing Murray any problems and fairly confident that Murray will be playing on centre court on Sunday afternoon.

However he'll probably need to play the game of his life to beat Feds.

yeah Murray will do Ferrero no problem, Warwinka is an awesome player and was always going to be a tricky opponent. Yes Murray went 5 sets and it'll take a lot out of him, but Ferrero has played more sets so far in the tournament, and is no spring chicken. I still see Murray being fairly untroubled in the quarters and semis, before being wooped by Federer.

Karlovic won't be an easy game for Federer, and then he's probably got Davydenko in the semis, I know which route I would rather have.

To be fair to Murray do any of the other players, male or female?

In a word, no. The day Wimbledon started they interviewed some ball boys and girls on Radio 5. Some of them were back for their second year and were asked who their favourite players were. One girl said Venus Williams because she says "thank you" when you feed her a ball.

The implication of that comment is that it is indeed a very rare occurrence.

In fairness to the players though. Can you imagine saying "thank you" about three times for every serve in a match? You'd be sick of it after one game, let alone match or even tournament.

I feel sorry for the line judges and ball boys/girls. They have to stay alert enough to see a ball go in or out and quickly get dead balls, yet also avoid balls as well. Wouldn't want to be on the recieving end of a 130mph serve if I were a ball boy.

Because everytime a ball boy throws a ball back to any of our beloved footballers, they always thank them don't they! What a **** point!

Not really quite the same as someone delivering you drinks, towels etc -the odd thank you wouldn't really hurt. It's not my only complaint with Murray but part of the general point that he is an utterly charmless ****.
