The Wimbledon Thread

Murray takes the first set 6-2 against Troicki.

And the second set 6-3 and the last set 6-4. Last year, he seemed to understand the "plucky Brit battling to snatch a hard fought victory" thing, but here he was almost cruel in his clinical disposal of Troicki. It was rabbit in the headlights stuff from the Serb.

Some things in life are too easy. £50 on Ivanovic, V. Williams, Roddick, Hewitt and Murray to win. £90 plus stake back. Easy. Made over £115 on Wimbledon on Saturday...

Good punting, but I'd advocate quitting while you're ahead. Bookmakers love taking those sorts of bets. Think of all the big jollies who lost in the first week - Blake, Jankovic, Sharapova and Kuznetsova all leap immediately to mind. Lucky you missed out on those ones!

If it sounds like sour grapes coming from someone who works for a bookmaker, trust me, it's not. We've made a lot of money on favourites getting beaten this week.

Good advice James.

It's an apochryphal story I think, but a bloke was asked, "Where did you go on holiday this year?"

His response "Canvey Island"

"Where did your bookie go?"

"A private island in Grand Cayman"

"Think about it"

Pub quiz question: What was the first competitive tennis match played under the roof at Wimbledon?

Answer: Mauresmo v Safina.

BOUND to come up!

Pretty lame if you ask me. Sure, the roof is a good thing in really ****** days but you could see they were itching to get it shut as soon as they could. There's just something not very "British" about it.

plus it sounds crap

As the roof is in place, does that mean this match will be played to a finish tonight? If not and they have to come back tomorrow, will they have to play with the roof on?

Just seen a guy in a southend shirt during the murray match, sits at the back of the family enclosure. does he post on here?

great finish by Murray, still needs to improve, but has shown the heart and fitness required if he's gonna go all the way
