Not sure what all the fuss is about.
It's an old building. Amply enough for those who have stood on open terracing since the 50's.
The players enjoy being close to the fans.

I think the ground staff downed tools because they hadn't been paid - now they have been paid they are weeks (months?) behind.

They hadn’t downed tools at all. They just didn’t have the money required to properly do the job as the club failed to provide any funding whatsoever.

Yes we all want the game on but frankly it needs to safe for all players.Southend cant afford any injuries with the small squad

It was much much worse under Brown when the turf was literally scooping away under their boots. Was awful. Was so embarrassing listening to all the opposing managers bemoaning it. At the time, we didn't mind as much because we got wins against Wigan and the like. Was horrendous and totally dangerous though.

Filling in the fox holes and maintaining the perimeter track doesn't cost anything - that's just labour.

It seems they're either under-resourced in man power or something else is amiss
