The EU Referendum

How are you voting?

  • Leave

    Votes: 58 56.3%
  • Remain

    Votes: 45 43.7%

  • Total voters
    103
  • Poll closed .
Not unless you believe that Labour should pander to their anti-immigration (some of whom are clearly racist ) supporters in their traditional heartlands.

Btw,I thought the most intelligent comment I heard on the whole referendum campaign was by Will Self,
who on the eve of the vote, commented in a channel 4 interview that "while not all Brexit voters are racists, all racists are Brexiters."

I think it's time Labour came to terms with the fact that many of it's core vote have become alienated, and feel unrepresented.

Hard to believe for some on here but there will be a significant portion of Labour supporters that don't have degree's or enjoy the benefits that a degree brings.

It comes as cold comfort to them that immigration is good for an economy, when they don't see the benefits themselves on zero hour contracts and minimum wage.

Personally I pity the Labour party, and all that it has become.

A lot of people have probably already seen this on FB, but it did make me laugh:

Right. **** this. We're ALL up **** creek and we need a paddle. Now, not in three months.

Fellow Remain voters: Enough already. Yes, we're all ****ed off but navel gazing ain't gonna help. Not all 17 million Leave voters can possibly be racist northern pensioners without an O level to their name. Maybe they have a point about this quitting the EU thing? Maybe not. Whatever, we are where we are and no amount a whinging is gonna change that. Allegedly we're the intelligent ones, so get your thinking caps on.

Leave voters. Well done. Good game. We hear you. Now you need to get stuck in to the aftermath and not just **** off back to Wetherspoons. (Just banter, *****!). And the first person to say they "want their country back" gets deported to ****ing Gibraltar. OK?

Politicians.

David. **** off. Shut the door behind you. Now.

George. You may be a **** but you're our ****. Plus you know the passwords for our Junior Savers account. Get your calculator. Drop the face-like-a-slapped-*** routine. You're on.

Boris. Sorry mate. That photo of you abseiling by your scrotum over the London Olympics while waving a Union Jack can't ever be un-taken. Plus, you'll never be able to appear on Question Time again without some sturdy Glaswegian nurse asking where the **** her 350 million quid is. Not only will she have a very good point, she'll be wearing a T shirt that shows you gurning in front of that ****ing bus! No captains hat for you I'm afraid.

Theresa. You're in charge love. Get the biggest shoulder pads you've got. We need Ming The Merciless in drag and you'll scare the **** out of 'em.

Nicola. Yep. Fair cop. You probably could get us on a technicality, as could London. But we ****ing love shortbread. And oil. And to be honest you're probably the best politician we've got, so we need you on side. Sort your lot out and we promise never to mention that Jimmy Krankie thing again (although it is pretty uncanny) and we'll make you a Dame once we're sorted. Bring Ruth Davidson. She kicks ***.

Opposition party. We'll need one. Someone take Jeremy and John back to the British Legion Club where you found them. Take Nigel as well. Give back their sandals, buy them a pint, then go to Heathrow and collect David Milliband. **** it. Lets gets Ed Balls as well. He keeps George on his toes. I think he works on the lottery kiosk at Morrisons now?

Oh. And Mark Carney. Give him a knighthood and tell him to keep that **** coming. We definitely need more of that good ****!

Everyone set? Right. Hold the Easyjet. We're going to Brussels and this ain't no hen party.

I very much doubt there would be a second referendum, but if there is I'd like the voting age reduced to 16 and anyone over the age of 75 not allowed to vote. **** you Keith's blind mum, you're not going to live with the fallout.

To my surprise you were one of the better ones in the week before the vote. Most of the usual suspects become quite nasty as the polls suggested a Brexit. Still I knew you would come good in the end.

As it is reckoned that young people are now five years behind the Baby Boomers when it comes to maturity, don't you think the vote should be at least 21 or even 25.

My mum didn't vote as she is in her 80's and suffering from dementia. If there was another vote she definitely will be voting and she has earned the right in so many ways. Certainly ahead of every single under 25 in the country.

I think we all need a good laugh...........(from the Guardian)

Cameron reportedly told the commission’s president, Jean-Claude Juncker, at a 2014 G20 summit that he could win a referendum “by a margin of 70 to 30”. Juncker replied that even Luxembourg would not vote to stay in the EU by such a big majority, according to one EU diplomat.

not so funny ..........

As shockwaves from the Brexit vote continued to spread, EU officials also said on Sunday the bloc was preparing to move its European Banking Authority from London, setting up a race led by Paris and Frankfurt to host the regulator.

He must have been in Milton Keynes the week before.

Personally I'm "intensely relaxed" about immigration (as was Blair).

I understand many of our friends in the North don't feel the same way, however.

That just proves that not only did you not answer my posts, you didn't even read them!

Is it possible, with the way Labours English and Welsh heartlands backed Brexit that some good could actually come of this?

Labour politician after Labour politician on the night of the referendum said that they had been sent a message that they needed to listen too.

Oh come off it Callan, how many times have heard that one?
Millionaire socialist Chuka Umunna (Ha! pull the other one) was saying that kind of dung when it became clear that Remain had lost. "A message has been sent" and "We need to start listening to peoples concerns" were two of the predictable pieces of crap to come out. Loved in when Dimbleby replied "Isn't it a bit late to start listening?"
Should have tried listening a bit harder since 2010.

She's 17, unable to vote and worried for her future and the future of her friends. It's completely understandable seeing that old(er) people have decided her future for her.

But if we're going to have a "points" based system akin to Australia, what if her friends parents don't gain enough to warrant staying in the UK?

Hasn't it already been said that people already here wouldn't be affected if this was to happen?

I honestly can't believe some of the crap being spouted. Nicola Sturgeon saying she wants to remain in Europe, have Independence and yet keep the pound is priceless! The £350m a week was never promised in its entirety to the NHS, that's just people's misperception, it was talked about being used to fund it, yes but that didn't mean it was all going to it. People wriggling about because of misunderstandings and technicalities.

Amazes me that people think putting the word 'millionaire' in front of a Labour MPs name means something - most MPs are millionaires - that covers all parties. And it amazes me that Tory voters go on about Labour letting down the working class whilst voting for a party that has never made an convincing claims to care about the working class.

Its not convincing claims people want. Its action. You and your impotent Labour party need to stop hiding behind the 'we need to listen' excuse.

So lets see if you ***, Labours top poster on the Zone, can come up with one idea that would improve immigration. I'd like three or four but I'll settle for just one.

Your big chance to speak on the big Subject, so come on don't be shy, lets hear you views.

Thats something others have said, trying to weave a little ambiguity into the wording.

Unfortunately this one cant be disputed

£350 million never actually true in the first place.

What is it with the NHS anyway. What makes the NHS the priority over everything else in the first place.

Ha!Fortunately I've got very little in my UK account.I have advised my wife, however, to take our ex-bank manager's advice and sell her Spanish shares next week and buy British blue chips.I'm sure she'll make a killing.:winking:

Down 5.6%, bet she's chuffed with you. Hopefully being married to you she'll be well aware that Barna is always wrong, and ignored your advice!

Couldn't agree more on the last point. Why is everyone latching onto this concept that the money should be going into the NHS? How about schools? Transport? Welfare? (Just kidding on the last one)
