The EU Referendum

How are you voting?

  • Leave

    Votes: 58 56.3%
  • Remain

    Votes: 45 43.7%

  • Total voters
    103
  • Poll closed .
Up till 2.30am then up at 6am and at work since 9am so just dipping in but I don't hide just not writing reams.

Izzard is active in what he believes in - invests time and effort rather than being a non active face of a cause. You can knock his cause or his style but I'd suggest respect for his active involvement

I absolutely agree, without the left wing educated elite constantly insulting the working classes we would still be in the EU. An attitude that was repeated here on the zone. On behalf of all us Brexiters a big thanks to all the 'degree' educated 'informed' people who chose to insult us.

GE is the right thing to do IMO - Tories are half a party and need to reiterate their mandate.

And a mandate from Labour members is what Corbyn has which is problematic for Labour if he is not (yet) in a position to win a GE. I'd be much more comfortable if that is the conclusion that it came from him.

Yeah I don't disagree with that.

I don't normally like him but Chukka Umunna came across really well I thought, last night as did one or two others from different parties.

Only anecdotal, but twitter and the media are doing a good job of finding 'leavers' who've admitted to regretting their vote.

You won Rigsby, how about being magnanimous as you are still coming across as an angry man.

Blimey mate you really have a chip on your shoulder don't you. Were you touched by an educated uncle as a child?

Nothing wrong with degree educated informed people pal.

Got a chip on our shoulder have we?

I realise that there are things you want to get out of your system but I don't know why you are attaching them to posts that are not related to your reply.

Bit late for that now, they've made their bed etc.

Not necessarily:

Petitions

Are you serious? :omg: This is blatantly anti-democratic in a way that is worthy of the worst banana republic dictator: “oh yes, we didn’t like the result so we will run the vote again until we get the result we want!”

Now the anti-democratic EU have done exactly this a few times before, which is exactly one of the reasons why 17+ million British voters voted to Leave.

The time to have this kind of petition and debate is BEFORE the referendum is run - you CANNOT change the rules of the game AFTER it has been played - if you felt this why did you not say so before the Referendum and start a petition then?

Let us take an analogy: Germany are playing England in the World Cup Final, and England win by 5 goals to 4, but some commentators say that Germany actually played better, and that a 5 to 4 result is not a fair representation of the match so it must be replayed !

Can you not see not just how ridiculous your suggestion is, but also how dangerous in terms of further alienating people who already feel disenfranchised by the political system ?

The rules were made absolutely clear before the referendum took place. If the Government had said BEFORE the referendum that if the result was a majority of less than X% on a turnout of Y% then a second referendum would be triggered with the following criteria blah blah etc ... then that would be OK, but they did not.

For generation after generation democracy has been very clear: one wo/man one vote and a simple majority wins.

If the result had been the other way around would you be signing the opposite petition – if your answer is “no” then take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror.

As a fellow leaver, it could easily have been us sitting here today without the result we wanted.

Mistakes have been made, but that applies to both sides....time now to let it go?

And 75% of those under 24, who's lives will be impacted far more than Keith's blind old 94yr old mum, voted to Remain.

Absolutely, they may in the future be able to get a house, training from companies that currently don't, as there is plenty of Labour, though on balance they might have to pay tence more for texts whilst on Holiday!

Also shouldn't that figure be 100 per cent?

I hope you're right. Sadly I think a few years down the line Brexits will rue the day they ticked that box.

So looks like Scotland get another referendum which could mark the end of Great Britain. Wonder if people voting leave expecting to put the 'Great' back into Great Britain realised they we were giving the SNP the chance to kill it?

They have had it given to them on a plate. Enough people turned out in Scotland to vote to show they want to remain, but not enough turned out to swing the vote into a full UK remain, thus allowing them to go for independence again.

If that happens will be the saddest thing about this whole thing.
