The Essex CCC Thread

Good stuff from Essex, our reserve bowling attack has just bowled the WIndies out for 146. Makes a change from the winter where England never looked like bowling them out - although Chanderpaul was not out and Sarwan isn't back from the IPL yet.

Chambers was apparently the pick of our bowlers by some distance.

Gayle is also at the IPL I think. It seems that Chambers will be a first team regular if he maintains form and fitness. 3 late wickets for Westfield as well. Latest score Essex 71/2.

Has anybody been over to Chelmsford the last couple of days for this match?

Just wondering if anyone had seen my mate Jahid Ahmed bowl? I see him picked up two wickets and his words he bowled well just wondered what peoples opinions on him are.

Essex v Kent.

Kent won the toss and elected to field.

Essex 65-1. Chopra out for 21, Cook 38*, Mickleburgh 6*.

Essex 2 changes - Cook in for Gallian, Danish in for Middlebrook.

Interesting side note, one of the umpires is former Premier League referee Martin Bodenham, and I've been umpired by the other one, Neil Bainton. He's very, very good. Has a very easy-going nature on the pitch, plus he gave me a couple of LBW's the last time he stood at my end. He'll go far !

The other Essex news is that Bopara is in the England squad:clap: but will bat at no.3. so the chances are he'll miss the first part of the season for Essex, but be back for the second part.

Essex 201-4 now, 86 run partnership between MtS and Foster. MtS 54*, Foster 30*. He's obviously had his orders changed to Attacking, as he's now scored 28 runs off his last 36 balls

18-2 now, Jones out for 1. C Foster B Wright.

Just checked Foster's stats for the season so far

22 catches, only 1 bye, and 210 runs @ 52.50

And he can't get in the England team......

64/5, wickets being shared around and 4 catches for Fozzie.

Got to be thinking follow on here. Interesting that Kent chose to field, weather all week has said sunny Wednesday and Friday but overcast Thursday.
