The Essex CCC Thread

I'm hoping that our current slowness (1.71 RR in the second innings) is as a result of the pitch continuing to be lively and should give us a good chance of polishing them off in the second innings. Hopefully RtD will come in and liven things up in the afternoon.

111/4 now, upping the pace and looking good for a chunky lead with over a day to get them out. Will be a big scalp if we can do it seeing as Lancs have won all their games thus far.

155-4, but they're off for bad light. Bit strange as these 2 have put on 49 in 10.4 overs. we now lead by 278.

Tea now being taken.

Do you think there was a spot of declaration bowling? Our run rate shot up to almost seven an over at one point.

Anyhow, declared with a lead of 335. I suspect we may not have quite left ourselves long enough to bowl at them, but we'll see. Should make an interesting afternoon of it...

I don't think so Matt, RtD has been in great form with both bat & ball so far this season, although your namesake may have needed some buffet bowling.

I think you are right about time not being on our side, however I agree with YB's post that the Lancashire batting line up isn't that good.

Nope, we just had to get on with it. Shame we lost that time yesterday, I'd have fancied us to win handsomely. Might be a bit of a lost cause today, but you never know if we get a couple early on....

You've got your wish as RtD takes a wicket and Lancs collapse to 108/2 at Tea.

BTW Happy Birthday BB.
Thanks.

Lancs 114-2, the guy reporting the game on 5 live has put out requests for anybody decorating to contact him, as he thinks that watching some paint dry would be far more enjoyable than what Lancashire are serving up.

Game on perhaps, Lancs now 144-5. Danish got rid of Prince, and now Wright has snaffled both Horton and Croft in the space of 3 balls.
