The Essex CCC Thread

Essex playing Lancs today, and are currently 49-0. 1 thing I can't work out - we have named 12 and Cricinfo says that 11 will bat and 11 will field, but I can't work out from the list, who is not / might not be at the ground.

To bat ML Pettini*, GW Flower, MJ Walker, RN ten Doeschate, JS Foster†, MA Chambers, DD Masters, CJC Wright, Danish Kaneria, RS Bopara

I assume it's Bopara, but he wasn't named in the Test squad yesterday.

169/3 at tea, decent effort given that we were put in (which seems an interesting choice as today is the scorching day then it gets much cooler next three days). RtD has nearly overtaken MtS despite facing 80 less balls.

Bopara is at the reception at Downing St for the T20 team and will replace Flower when he returns.

That's only 10.

Latest score is 169/4, according to the BBC the 12 nominated are Pettini, Godleman, Mickleburgh, MtS, RtD, Flower, Foster, Wright, Chambers, Danish, Masters & Bopara.

No explanation as to why, unless England have an injury doubt and Ravi is on standby.

Thanks for clearing that little mystery.

Has anyone noticed Essex have signed Scott Styris for the T20, I think I am rather underwhelmed with his signing.

251-6 at the close of play. Just about even I'd say and thats reflected by both teams having earned two points apiece.

Only really Foster (6 off 53) and Pettini (12 off 57) that didn't contribute with the bat. Another great knock from RtD with his 85 off 123 balls.

Someone else - Somerset(?) had 12 men listed as well.

Threw me, as I was quite pleased with our batting depth.

Intriguingly Grant Flower is not out overnight.

At close we finish 26-1 with Godleman gone for 6.

We bowled them out for just 184 with Danish finishing with 3-42.

Lancs batting line-up is really ****.

Not sure we're that much better though, but fingers crossed as we're in a pretty good position.

72-3 at lunch, we lead by 195. I would assume the idea is to bat until 30 mins before the close, and hope to have a lead of 350....
