Positive update Shrimpers.

A twist in the tale in the Louis Lomas saga:

I know Stan is on here, but perhaps KM is too... Appears KM has now spoken to Louis. Things have progressed immensely. Contract being sorted today. Likely to be travelling to Southend tomorrow or Friday, and will be announced once complete.

Looks like we won't be signing one of Gubbins or Lopata, but appears Louis will go into a back three with Hobson and Ralph. Imagine if Gubbins or Lopata come in, then Ralph could be pushed to LWB?

Told as well as Louis, the club wish to make a further 4/5 signings. Promising to hear that.
Thanks for the update but interesting youve missed Kensdale out. I thought he came on really well the more he played and maybe controversial but would rather he was in the three than one of either Ralph (would prefer him at LB/LWB) or Hobson. Kensdale brings the ball out of defence well and has a decent passing range. Yes he is raw but last season and a full pre season wont do him any harm for sure

Would be a shame not to get either Gubbins or Lopata though but not unexpected.

I agree I think Kensdale is being overlooked. Him and Hobson are definite picks for me in the back 3.

London........"Told as well as Louis, the club wish to make a further 4/5 signings. Promising to hear that"

So splashing the cash on new players.......But what of the outstanding money (much needed wages) still owed to some of the staff?.
Well nobody on here has the answer to that. It may be that there are plans in place to rectify, I hope there are. As for signing new players, that is the prerogative of the coaching team and with the approval of the CEO.

Important question, but there’s another thread for that topic in the finances forum. Let’s please keep this thread on topic of player signings / departures rumours.

....... and the money from our wonderful Chairperson.

Agreed. Not overlooking him. I also thought he looked better the more he played, but if we sign Louis, then I imagine it'll be Hobson and him at the back with Gubbins if we get him in (assuming Lopata doesn't happen), if not possibly Kensdale and Ralph at LWB, or Ralph on the left of a back three and Clifford at LWB.

Ideally I would like a back three of Hobson - Lopata - Lomas with Ralph at LWB would be my first choice, and then if not, Gubbins replacing Lopata and moving to the left side of the back three. Think I'd rather Kensdale than Clifford in the starting 11, seemed to be a different player at the back end of last season IMO.

Remember a few players were released. Ogogo, Coulson, Dunne and White would have been earning good money, as well as possibly Atkinson and Akinola, but not to the extent as the four mentioned before.

Abs was on one of highest wages I know that for a fact .

You must have only watched his first few games. Last 5 or 6 that he played, thought he was excellent and fitted the way that we want to play. Played and carried the ball out of defence really well and gave us real balance as a left-footer on the left hand side of that back three.
Nope I saw the others too. Didn't rate him. Very limited footballer in my opinion. If we want to get promoted from this league we should be aiming higher.

I think Ralphy's best position is LB/LWB anyway, his attacking threat is so good down the left, also a very good cover LCB too of course, I think it also gives grounds for Clifford to have some proper competition down the left and hopefully help his development a bit more.
Yep agreed with all of that. He's never been a centre back....fine filling in for emergency there.

It's a long hard season with injuries and suspensions etc the stronger squad meaning no need to play players carrying injuries or off form like last season.
I like Kensdale I think he learned more from lopata than Hobson who I felt was judged a bit harshly by some, ..
I think Kensdale could also do a Neal type job as a defensive midfielder, just my opinion obviously depends who signs up for the big promotion push.

It’s gone a bit quiet with regards to those players offered new contracts, anyone heard any whispers re: Collin, Clifford, Tommy Davis, Coker and Benton?
Those type of deals often seem to be signed first few days of pre-season. I expect terms for most of them have been agreed but they’ll wait until the player is next in the building to finalise the paperwork (particularly if they require a medical). The club hasn’t gone a great job of announcing the youngsters’ deals so there may not even be anything official.

if lomas is coming in as it seems he will be .I guess contracts will be signed he player announced .But wont jion the club untill the 1st of july as the other two are .
