Of course it would be great to have cover for every position and not have to rely on younger players or those playing out of position or ultimately injury-cover loans.

Reality is that we can't afford that, we are not Wrexham.

We have a very decent squad at the moment which when everyone is fit becomes a very good squad which together with a very good management team should keep us all very happy.

I don't get this 'when everyone is fit' and 'when all our forwards are fit' malarkey.

Are there really those amongst us, knowing our record and apparent shortage of medical staff, who actually believe we will have a fully fit, injury free squad or even full compliment of attacking options at any point this season? And that's without considering inevitable suspensions.

Nope, no club in the country does that’s why I mention loans to cover injury
 
Another thought on the CD issue. Say kensdale was injured - do you replace him with Hobson or Lomas? Whatbif Hobson was injured who replaces him? In a 3 we were all talking about a left side defender previously. If we bring in one of those and Hobson gets injured would they cover the other 2 positions. That's a lot of back up players to cover each CD position - ie centre ball playing, left and right

Good point.

I wonder if Harry Taylor can play centrally? As he also plays centre-mid I’d have thought so. He’d presumably be the cover for Hobson and Kensdale with Clifford the cover for Lomas (with Ralph switching). After that we’ve then got Tommy Davis.
 
If anything happens its surely going to be first week Sept earliest once window is shut so EFL situation opens up? And likely there is one max two slots and so temptation to leave open unless a real obvious target that significant improves what we have comes available?

Be amazed if anything happens now before then.
 
i guess the landscape has changed a little in the last few weeks.

Lomas has come in and so far looked every bit the player we hoped he would be.
JD has returned from suspension and no coincidence that Mooney had his best game of the season so far.
Gus SM played 60 min yesterday so cant be far away from making the squad.
Cosgrave looked ok when he came on, albeit not for long and may surprise a few
Murphy is getting closer to returning to full training but probably still a month or so away from being anywhere the first team squad

So that's four players that two weeks ago weren't available plus Murphy

So on that basis where do we need to recruit?

Maybe one more CB (lopata?)
Maybe another striker?

Think midfield and out wide we have options (Benton and Coker dont look out of place)
LB we have Clifford and Ralph
RB JD, Gus and also Taylor can fill in

So as it stands i think we are only maybe two players away from having a completed squad and hope we have a decent run with players staying fit and the likes of Taylor, Murphy and Cardwell coming back fit and ready

I’d say we need another CB and then the only other position I think we need depends what they want to do with Collin.
If the plan is still to loan him out to get some games or not?
