The title of the thread is 'Summer Transfer Targets' and is not the the 31st of August the last day of summer? Is this our business done now ? No more transfer thread ?
23rd September I believe the last day of summerThe title of the thread is 'Summer Transfer Targets' and is not the the 31st of August the last day of summer?
The pedant in me says this thread should be closed on the 1st of September!
Or we prolong the agony and rename the thread 'The Never Ending Story'. Works for me, I like the film.Summer transfers used to mean (when we were an EFL team) all activity up to the closing of the transfer window. I believe that is 11pm on 1 September this year.
While the window doesn’t apply in the NL, any transfers after then would struggle to meet the definition of being ‘Summer 2022’, unless they were in the following 3 weeks as has been already mentioned.
So for me, this thread can close with the EFL window and any subsequent (clearly less frequent) business can be handled through standard threads in Chit-Chat pending the opening of the January Transfer Rumours Thread in December through to February.
We’re not likely to do too much transfer business in September, October or November IMO.
That's the quarter day... but weather wise, in most years the last day of summer is around mid July! (Not this year, I know).23rd September I believe the last day of summer
10%, when do we what it? NOW!! (Ooops, wrong thread)No transfer window means the transfer rumouring can roll on and on.
Indeed with the prime loan for non league just about to start up this could be the hot thread once again.
However, what (position/role) do we need now?
I heard we were signing an old codger named Harold who uses a cane to walk, you must have misheard.PS We are signing a bloke called Harold Kane, so I've been told.
Once upon a time I would have agreed on Lopata, but not any more. He would be a loanee and replace one of our current permanent CBs who have started to look the business in this league, and will only get better as a result.2 more Lopata.... and another
As much as it pains me to say it, we didn’t look lost without Lopata on Saturday. Lomas and Kensdale are doing a great job.Once upon a time I would have agreed on Lopata, but not any more. Time to move on I think.
So interesting that you say that. Obvious candidates took the plaudits at the weekend but for me, Kensdale has come on leaps and bounds. He played that figure head role at the back last season on a few occasions and I was really worried about us going into the season with him in that role. However, over the summer, you can see that he has bulked up and his reading of the game is brilliant. He is really starting to look like a leader at the back and is a real physical presence that is really comfortable on the ball too.Once upon a time I would have agreed on Lopata, but not any more. As is Hobson. All good things come in threes. As much as it pains me to say it, we didn’t look lost without Lopata on Saturday. Lomas and Kensdale are doing a great job.
Whilst I agree with the way our three permanent centre-backs are currently looking the business, with Taylor out for the foreseeable future, we're only only centre-back injury away from either:Once upon a time I would have agreed on Lopata, but not any more.
