They didn't- but the assumption Wrexham can buy their way up might be wrong again. I enjoyed Portsmouth and Sunderland repeatedly demonstrating the building a team of footballers who all think they are too good for the division they are in is a recipe for embarrassment.
I reckon that if they aren't clear by November they may get twitchy and change the manager which could set them back another season.

Wrexham currently have 8 strikers on their books! If we accept a bid, Dalby’s got a decision to make. Money or playing football.

Edit: someone on Wrexham’s forum is saying that it’s rumoured he’s agreed terms.
It really a Wrexham type signing though is it. Look at who they buy. They do most their shopping in L1 or 2! Don’t think we will lose him as would be footballing suicide to lose him now, unless of course we have two new strikers lined up which could be the only option to allow this to happen

Supposedly doubled his L1 wages... It's going to take some effort for any club to beat them to top spot this season.
Just because you pay players more money than others, doesn't mean you are going to be successful. It's about building a team.

You are 100% right but it makes the % chance of success much much higher. Look on average in every league. Sadly the teams who spend more money tend to average higher than those who spend less.

If we had the money to bring in a top center back and forward at this level we'd have a much better chance at promotion this season.

From a reliable source. Ollie Palmer is on £4,500 per week. signed from Wimbledon in L1. May well have doubled his wage.

I like Dalby but I doubt we can reject a lucrative deal for him. He only has a year left so might be time to cash in. As he's young I'd put add ons attached. I'd like to think we'd be using the money we get to persuade a forward that has proven at this level ie cheek.
If we are serious about promotion, Dalby is under contract so tell Wrexham to do one

Although the extra £’s might be attractive to Dalby he will be 3rd / 4th choice. Stay a shrimper and play 35-40 games, score 25 and earn a bigger move lad.
In reality that sounds great. Comes down to his ambition. Might go to Wrexham and do well, they play two up front but can’t see him getting in ahead of Mullin, Palmer or Lee. But if he can go there on a 2/3 year contract and treble his wages he may well be happy to be a bit part player. At his age it’s a very lucrative offer and I’m certain if the money is right for us and him then the deal will happen. But it must only be allowed if replacements can be found.
also with the bizarre rumour of Murphy to vale appearing yesterday we would defo need reinforcements and fast

Ultimately if he’s being offered 2 or 3 times what he’s earning here then he’ll more than likely leave. Yes he will probably have limited playing time but if a company offers to double or triple your wages somewhere else then let’s face it most of us will go!! He’s 22 and hasn’t got a young family I don’t think so moving far away wouldn’t be a major disruption to someone of Sam’s age and situation,
I would rather he stay of course but if he goes we must must have a decent replacement already signed and ready to hit the ground running!

No chance he scores 25 with us. No evidence we’ve seen both from him individually and the team as a whole that could create chances that he’d score anywhere near that.

Someone the other day said he’d chip in with 10 goals which is more realistic.

Not saying we should get rid, I like him for what he gives us but he’s not the answer to the problems we have. Mooney may well be.

This is who we are now. We know we are signing players of an age where “bigger” clubs can make cash offers to help balance our books. Wouldn’t be surprised at all he goes before the weekend.
