Yes - it seems to have been a bit of a "bumpy" summer ........ good news followed by not so good news & repeat - perhaps just a function of this "marvellous" information driven world that we live in ...........

Not a fan of loans but if the success of last season could be replicated then that would be good.

Really hoping Dalby is not moving on - I don't think we have seen the best of him yet as part of the current squad we have.
I'd take a "bumpy summer" as you put it given the previous summers, which weren't bumpy but were rock bottom.

All of sudden have a slightly less good feel about the summer. I’m more than happy with those that we’ve signed although losing both Lomas and GSM to injury already is not good. Add to that the injuries to Cardwell and Murphy that’s four potential starters missing. Now hearing that Dalby may be off and more bizarrely Murphy to Port Vale it is leaving us maybe 3 or 4 players short of a competitive squad. Borehamwood on the 6th followed by Solihull and Halifax away without further signings look very tough games.
I guess like many I went into the summer hoping that Stan and Co with their whiteboard of targets would have job done by now and considering we knew that Cardwell and Murphy especially hoped another striker or two would be signed. Yes we’ve got Wreh and missed out on Kelly but we are woefully short in this area. If lomas isn’t going to make the start of the season then another CB must be a priority but more importantly if we are to lose one of or both Dalby and Murphy then another two strikers need to be found
After 12 games last season Stockport were 11th 12 points off top, Wrexham were 10th 11points off top. I wouldn’t lose sleep over the 1st few games of the season there is still time to bring in players and strengthen the team ….

Murphy to Port Vale? So many questions. To start with:

He's not even fit, so why would they go for him?

He hasn't kicked a ball since the winter, so why would they want him?

Is he League 1 material?

1. They are desperate

2. Because they are desperate

3. Probably not, see points 1&2 otherwise why would they be considering him

I would be happy selling Murphy and Dalby for a fee.

Murphy is too injury prone. Dalby whilst a solid player, if we can get money before he eventually refuses a new contract next season, take it.

As long as we get replacements in. Otherwise we’re a bit screwed.

I like Dalby but I doubt we can reject a lucrative deal for him. He only has a year left so might be time to cash in. As he's young I'd put add ons attached. I'd like to think we'd be using the money we get to persuade a forward that has proven at this level ie cheek.

Wrexham currently have 8 strikers on their books! If we accept a bid, Dalby’s got a decision to make. Money or playing football.

Edit: someone on Wrexham’s forum is saying that it’s rumoured he’s agreed terms.

Supposedly doubled his L1 wages... It's going to take some effort for any club to beat them to top spot this season.
That was said last season and they are in exactly same position. Granted they are looking like ones to beat but doesnt alway work out that way.

We’ve seen plenty of teams throw obscene amounts of money at their squad in the summer and look like they’ll walk the league. But if the manager can’t get them to gel, or good players start getting the hump if they’re not getting the minutes because there’s 3 or 4 of them to each position, it could all go wrong.

I still think no one will get close to them, but stranger things have happened.

How can this happen with a wage budget? I thought the league brought in rules.
They didn't- but the assumption Wrexham can buy their way up might be wrong again. I enjoyed Portsmouth and Sunderland repeatedly demonstrating the building a team of footballers who all think they are too good for the division they are in is a recipe for embarrassment.
