You don't have to exhaust any budget now, might be needed later. Plus you don't spend money just because you have it.

It’s probably easier to sign players now given many are out of contract… even if we aren’t signing out of contracts, other clubs will be able to replace with those

If I understand the situation properly, there is no rush.

a) we can sign players throughout the season

b) there are loan players that might be attractive

c) there may be a trialist who comes & sparkles

Good players that are out of contract are going to get snapped up in pre-season and clubs with good players are going to set a higher price once the season starts because if we take their star player off them their season will be derailed because they'll struggle to replace them.

Would be nice to get couple more in just before the season starts....... we definitely need another striker and another centre midfielder. Striker being the main priority.

I’d suggest a CM (attacking) and a Striker as a minimum we’d be looking to bring in before KO. Perhaps a loanee or two if required, depending on who is available and whether we have any injuries that crop up in the upcoming friendlies, which is bound to happen (let’s hope not).

Exactly my thoughts too. Think McGregor would be ideal (seen him play a couple times, great footwork and dribbling. Quite agile too) as the ‘back-up’ attacking CM.

If we play 3-4-3 and out and out striker is massively needed with Murphy, Cardwell and Dalby there. But definitely needed if we play two central strikers. Who doesn’t like signing strikers though

I liked the look of Faal from Enfield, mentioned him a couple of times on here and suppose we have looked at him, scored almost 40 goals two tiers below at the age of 24(ish) but he’s a big lad so maybe we need to look for something different.

Did I not read on here not so long ago that one of the management team was alleged to have told one of the new signings that we were planning to bring in four to five more? Presumably that would include loans but the statement does suggest we might reasonably expect two to three more signings before the season begins.

Cardwell isn't injury prone, taking a step up from part time to full time takes a brunt on your body, he's been more than unlucky with injuries rather than prone to them. He was carry an injury while playing for a long time so that probably didn't help much.

Murphy on the other hand is definitely prone to them.

Are southend going to strengthen there team in the middle of the park for attacking point of view and upfront seems teams like Boreham wood adding quality and we are getting left behind... there's far to many players that play very like for like up top... infact we are quite weak in that position...

Definitely need a striker,before start of the season,also would expect a midfielder soon after the mussa deal fell through,Then a left back/left centre half,maybe a couple of loans near the start of the season,

I think like a few people have said we will probably leave it later into the season to get a couple of loan players in as and when. Kevin said he wanted to work with a smaller squad.
